Itinerary
An extraordinary example of Romanesque military architecture, Porta Torre is what remains-or rather, what is most visible-of the ancient defensive walls that surrounded the city of Como.
On the site of the Roman Forum, until the 1800s it was the market square, the commercial center of the city, of which it was also, in the early medieval and communal period, one of the religious fulcrums. We'll get to know about the "Dragon Portal"
Nearly four hundred years were spent by Como workers in the construction of the cathedral, begun in 1396, whose façade is still one of the most remarkable examples of late Gothic in northern Italy.
Piazza Cavour is the beating heart of the city of Como: a synergistic point of exchange, meeting and sociability. From the large square, embraced by the many period and historically significant buildings such as hotels, banks, stores, bars and restaurants, it is possible to admire the incredible landscape overlooking Lake Como.
Located on the shores of the lake, the temple is dedicated to the genius of Alessandro Volta, a native of Como. It was built in neoclassical style to celebrate the centenary of the illustrious citizen’s death. We will talk about his story too! Ticket to enter into the temple is not included (5€)
Just 900 meters away from the Monumento dei Caduti, Villa Olmo is another must-see on a Lake Como vacation. Aesthetically, this 18th-century mansion is in keeping with the style of the other villas found in Como, Cernobbio, Bellagio, etc.
If you have some energy (and time) I really recommend you to visit Brunate: a small village with a really cool view on the lake. Ticket not included (6,60€)
Since 1927 this 29-meter tower has towered over Lake Como. Built for the centenary of Alessandro Volta, it lights up from dusk to dawn with green, white and red lights: the Italian Flag!

Clicking between the written or verbal information and the maps ran phone battery out. support by owner on what’s app was good until battery was dead. Unable to finish the walk. Overall decent concept. Could be more clear that didn’t need ticket or check in. Wasted a lot of time figuring it out
Ciao! We're glad you enjoyed our guide! We've added instructions for activating the digital guide to the voucher and the WhatsApp message you received immediately after booking! However, we'll try to make it even easier! Ciao Walking Cap
This is great way to see Como, all the main sites included. It was well written script, easy to activate on your mobile phone, we used both, spoken and written versions.
It was great having the power of the tour in your hands! I enjoyed the history and the direction were easy to follow
Perfect self guided overview of Como! Great way to get a basic understanding of the top sight in the city.
Walking Cap's audio walking tour is a great value and an easy way to see and learn about the highlights in Como. It is a web app, well-organized with a clear table of contents and overview. We had no technical difficulties at all--the instructions were clear and the guide was generally easy to follow. There were plenty of interesting historical details in the tour that we wouldn't have known from just walking around on our own. The audio portion is a computer-synthesized voice that reads the same text that's in the app--we found it somewhat robotic and less pleasant to listen to than a recording of a human voice would have been, but on the other hand, not having to download huge audio files makes the web app load much more quickly. (Hint: if you're doing the tour with one other person, bring two sets of earbuds and pair both sets with your phone; it's much easier to listen that way than using your phone's speaker on a noisy street.) The audio stream would also get interrupted if we left the web app on either phone--for example, to take a photo--which was a little annoying. There were a couple of "side destinations" where the text had you "click here" to get to--so they didn't have Google Maps walking directions to find them like the main destinations did, which made using those a little awkward, but manageable. But overall, this tour is an incredible value for the price, far less expensive than an in-person tour, while covering basically the same sights.
Very comfortable and functional driving. Pleasant to tour the city freely with directions , precise and interesting information .
This guide had good information about points of interest in Como, organised in a fairly good way to allow you to spend an afternoon or morning seeing them. I didn’t really get why it started at the train station, as the history and background could’ve been delivered anywhere. But I saw things I would not have without it, and found it a helpful way to explore. Como was very beautiful in the autumn, and I’d highly recommend a visit.
The link that was sent didn’t work. He resent the link but still didn’t work. I notified him and didn’t get a response I should get a refund
Ciao! On the day of your visit we had several people connected in Como who used the digital guide without any problems😎. However, we sent you the same (working) link in about 4 minutes after your request, and never received any more response from you 🥲. So we are sorry to read this review because we could have helped you again 😉. I hope this review can be helpful for other travelers! Ciao Walking Cap
You get a link to an app which guides you from site to site via google maps and you press the audio tour once there. It works well and you can stop to eat, shop, or chill, or skip and go out of order. Flexible app to utilize at your own pace and you can ditch the expens tour guides. I can't wait to use it in other cities!
Love the tour at your own pace tours. Matteo does outstanding job giving history lesson and recommendations for meals and other sites to explore beyond the tour sites. The one thing in today’s tour, our party could not find that darn frog at the Duomo, lol. Other than that everything thing went really smooth. Thank you Matteo.
