The coach was comfortable and our guide shared a lot of interesting history along the way, while also giving us time to wind down and just enjoy the scenery on the way back. The schedule on these tours can be tight because it’s a day trip and there’s a lot to cover so you’ll likely get 10-15mins for each picture stop. My friend went on a bus tour and their stops were shorter, so this is definitely more generous. The viewpoints we stopped at were absolutely stunning. We got super lucky with the weather as it was sunny and warm. A little tip for anyone travelling out of Edinburgh this week (15th to 20th July): the highlands were actually quite a bit warmer than the city (a complete opposite to what we expected!) so maybe throw on a t-shirt under your sweater to account for it. There are plenty of bathroom stops during the trip for those concerned. The longest you’ll probably go between stops is about 2hrs. Since the tour doesn’t push for Loch Ness, which is further north, there’s less time spent on the coach in comparison. The Glenfinnan Viaduct is nice to see but was a bit underwhelming for me to be honest (still, do it if you’re a big Harry Potter fan!). There isn’t enough time to climb the hill viewpoint though. We had the opportunity to see Hairy Coos as well which was one of the highlights for me since I absolutely love them! Although there are frequent stops for food, I would recommend you carry some snacks or cold sandwiches just in case you're not able to find something you like/are a picky eater. If you’re going in July maybe consider carrying a handheld fan, cap etc to keep yourself cool. All in all a great experience! I will definitely go for longer next time to give myself more time to explore the highlands!!
A long day with some overlap from the previous tour, seeing the glenfinnan viaduct with the train overhead was incredible for this HarryPotter fan. Especially with the black Lake (Loch Shiel) right across the road. Wonderful day!
The day tour was a full day of scenery and history. Sandy our driver was full of great stories and Scottish lore . Would recommend him and this tour.

My friend and I were very pleased with the tour we chose. The driver Douglas was exceptionally good, very knowledgebale, had a great sense of humour and made this trip so pleasant. He made few extra spots to take fantastic pictures of beautiful Scottish scenary. The tour was long 12 hours, but we nevel felt that, thr time just flew by, we had great weather, sunny most of the time, just a small drizzle, a bit windy, but nothing unusual for the Scottish weather. I will recommend this tour. Thank you Douglas for making this tour so special

We had a wonderful experience on the Glenfinnan Viaduct tour with Sandy. He struck the perfect balance between sharing fascinating history and giving everyone time to simply enjoy the incredible Highland scenery. His stories and historical anecdotes during the drive were engaging, and when we had the chance to chat with him at stops, it became clear how well read and widely traveled he is—his perspectives made for some memorable conversations. When an accident closed one of the roads, Sandy and Discover Scotland Tours adapted seamlessly by reversing the itinerary, and the day never felt rushed or disrupted. He read the group well, offering just the right amount of commentary throughout the day. The coach was comfortable with excellent visibility (one seat on the left, two on the right). Sandy is an all-around good egg, and we'd happily tour with him again.
Thank you for your brilliant 5 star review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed Sandy's guiding, including his knowledge, stories and his ability to balance commentary with time to simply sit back and enjoy the brilliant Scottish scenery. We hope to help you discover more of Scotland another time! - Discover Scotland Tours
We had a great day on our minibus tour of the highlands. Our driver & guide Doug was excellent, keeping us entertained and well informed along the way. There were plenty of stops along the way for photos & rest breaks. I would highly recommend this tour.

We had an amazing tour with the best driver, Brian. His knowledge, smooth driving, and wonderful personality truly made the day complete. We were lucky enough to meet both big and small hairy coos, enjoy stunning scenery even in the rain, and experience several memorable additional stops along the way. The Jacobite train was steaming across the viaduct right as we arrived — such a perfect moment. This tour is full of hidden gems, and every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. Don’t miss out!
Thank you for your amazing review, it appears you had an amazing time on tour with Brian! We will be sure to let him know how much you appreciated his driving as well as his personality and knowledge. It is also great to see that you enjoyed the train crossing the Viaduct and the Highland coos (Both big and small). We hope to see you again in the future. - Discover Scotland Tours

It's been some time since we came back from the Glenfinnan, Loch Shiel and Glencoe tour with Discover Scotland Tours, and honestly, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. The landscapes throughout the day were absolutely stunning. Glencoe in particular feels ancient, majestic and almost otherworldly. Loch Shiel and the Glenfinnan Viaduct were beautiful to see in person and made for a fantastic day exploring the Highlands. But what truly made this experience unforgettable was our guide, Kyle. Kyle is, without exaggeration, the best tour guide we have ever had. From the very beginning, his warmth, enthusiasm and passion for Scotland were absolutely infectious. He seemed to know a story about every mountain, every loch, every village, every rock, and somehow managed to weave together history, folklore, nature, humour and music into one seamless experience. The amount of knowledge he shared throughout the day was honestly staggering. My parents don't speak a word of English, which meant I spent much of the tour desperately trying to translate Kyle's explanations for them. The problem? Kyle shared so many fascinating stories, facts and anecdotes that translating everything was simply impossible! Yet despite the language barrier, my parents absolutely adored him. His energy, kindness and genuine effort to connect with everyone in the group transcended language completely. They may not have understood every word, but they understood his passion, and they were excited every single minute of the trip. Kyle is also clearly a connoisseur of Scottish music. The journeys between stops never felt long thanks to his carefully curated soundtrack, which introduced us to both traditional and modern Scottish artists. He even sparked a newfound appreciation for Scottish literature in me. I have, somewhat alarmingly, become mildly obsessed with William McGonagall's poetry since returning home. Truly the best of the worst. What impressed us most was how effortlessly Kyle kept the group's energy high all day long. Whether sharing stories, pointing out wildlife, explaining the landscape, or simply making us laugh, he created an atmosphere that felt warm, personal and incredibly special. To wrap up the day, we drove back to Edinburgh with lights flashing inside the van, music blasting, and the whole group (or maybe just Kyle and myself, memories are admittedly a little blurry) singing along to The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), otherwise known as Scotland's official national anthem. A completely surreal, joyful and perfect way to end the day. Kyle, you're an absolute legend. Thank you for giving us memories that will stay with us for a very long time. If you're considering this tour, don't hesitate for a second.
Wow! Thank your for your fantastic detailed review! It is great to see you enjoyed your visits to Glenfinnan Viaduct, Loch Shiel & Glencoe, they are spectacular places to see. We can't thank you enough for your kind words about Kyle! It is so good to see that you and your parents appreciated his knowledge, despite a language barrier. His music playlist is beginning to get a good reputation, and we are glad it has started an interest on your end to Scottish Literature. Most of all its great to see how much you appreciated his energy and ability to keep everyone on the tour interested, laughing and singing! We will be sure to pass on all your kind words to Kyle, he will be absolutely thrilled! We hope to help you discover more of Scotland another day! - Discover Scotland Tours
