Antisana är en stratovulkan i norra Anderna i Ecuador. Det är den fjärde högsta vulkanen i landet (5.753 m - 18.874 ft), och ligger 60 kilometer sydost om Quito. Det är en perfekt vulkankon, sammansatt av två vulkankoner; den äldsta eroderades av en gammal glaciär. Din guide hämtar dig klockan 07:00 från ditt hotell i Quito, och sedan kör han dig rakt igenom den östra bergskedjan, fram till byn Pintag, där du börjar köra uppförsbacke till det ekologiska reservatet.
På 3.810 meter (12.500 fot) har du stora möjligheter att se mycket intressant fauna, som örnar, carunculated caracaras, vitsvanshjort, rävar, och naturligtvis den majestätiska andinska Condor, anses vara den största flygande fågeln i världen och en av de mest sällsynta arter som förmodligen hade överlevt sedan megabestarnas ålder (10.000 år ungefär)!
Du kommer att ta en vandring genom de andinska sluttningarna fram till Mica Lake (4.050 m - 13.287 ft), produkt av slutet av den senaste istiden, för att få en bättre utsikt över vulkanen och för att titta på vackra vattenfåglar som andinska tofsvipor, andinska måsar, andinska puppor, andinska änder och svarta ansikten ibis, som nyfiket lever i Chile och bara i Antisana vulkanen i Ecuador!
Efter din otroliga upplevelse i den bästa Condor territorium i Ecuador, kommer du att köra igen utför vägen till Isco canyon, där bon och klippor där kondorer sover är! Njut av mer utsikt över dessa spektakulära fåglar, kommer du att ha en traditionell och välsmakande lunch på en lokal restaurang, njuta av sällskap av olika arter av kolibrier.

My wife and I did this tour to explore a national park and find the condors. This activity was well worth it and allowed us to explore another unqiue environment on your trip to Quito. If you are a bird watcher you will be able to find some truly great lifers.

Spectacular - Antisana is amazing and breathtaking. We had a wonderful and very private experience in the park. Our guide ensured we saw incredible wildlife and explained to us the different types of birds and details about the condors. Our lunch experience was fantastic as well. My family loved it - would highly recommend.

Amazing day trip to a less travelled area in Ecudaor! Luis was an excellent guide, punctual, very knowledgeable about local history, flora and fauna, and a really nice guy. We were fortunate to have good weather, and we saw 25-30 condors from as close as 50 yards feeding on a carcass close to the Laguna! The views of Antisana were spectacular. We pretty much saw all of the expected other bird species and deers and had a great lunch at Tambo Condor. This is an amazing place to watch the Condors coming back in the afternoon to Isco canyon. They have a spotting scope there where you can watch. Also a lot of hummingbirds around that area. Couldn’t have been better. 100% recommend.

What an amazing day trip. Luis was an excellent guide- punctual, very knowledgeable, and a nice guy. We were fortunate to have good weather, and we saw 12-14 condors from as close as 40 yards! Saw pretty much all of the expected other bird species, and had a great lunch at Tambo Condor. Couldn’t have been better.

My second day with the fabulous Myriam, who is a wonderful guide, has amazing English and really knows her stuff. Today the target was condors. Given there are only 130 left in Ecuador, I knew there was a chance i wouldn’t see one, but we saw 10!!! Also several other amazing birds. Another excellent day and Myriam was also aware of the altitude and that I had some issues in Quito, so she kept a close eye on me, asking about symptoms. I felt very safe in her hands. Well worth a visit to this amazingly beautiful place.

absolutely incredible tour. Our guide was Luis. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a nice hike up the hill. We saw four condors and a lot of other animals and birds. Lunch was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed every moment. Thank you very much.

What an incredible day. Luis picked me up at my hotel and off we went up to the nearly empty national park where it felt like we were the only two people in the area. Along the way we were fortunate to spot not one but 10 (!!) condors soaring and playing together. Given that there are approximately 100 birds total in existence, we saw a remarkable 10% of them. It was breathtaking to watch them - especially when they swooped down close to us. We continued up to the park with stops along the way to spot seedeaters, flowerpiercers, caracaras, black-faced ibises, tyrants, variable hawks, and an abundance of deer. Once in the park, we hiked up to about 13000ft and the mountain came out of the clouds for most of our time there providing incredible views. On the way back, we stopped for a lovely typical Ecuadorean lunch at a small local restaurant, where the hummingbirds were out in full force. Luis was an excellent guide with deep knowledge of the area and its inhabitants - and a great sense of humor - and I felt very lucky to have him as my teacher. It could not have been a better day and I highly recommend this excursion.
