Echmiadzin is 's werelds eerste christelijke kathedraal. Het woord "Echmiadzin" betekent een plaats waar "de eniggeboren zoon van de God neerdaalde"
Een van de helderste herkenningspunten van de middeleeuwse Armeense architectuur - de prachtige Zvartnots-tempel werd gebouwd in de 7e eeuw.
Het is de bekendste pelgrimsoord van de Armeense Apostolische Kerk.

A very enjoyable tour. Our driver was Vazgen who was very friendly, courteous and a safe driver. He collected us on time and drove safely. Even though he wasn't our guide (only a driver), he provided us with lots of information on Armenia and the places we were visiting. Recommend!

Excellent tour. Artur was a very knowledgeable guide who organised the day very well and gave us a lot of information about the history and culture of Armenia. He and the driver took good care of us, even bringing the jacket we forgot in the car back to our hotel.
