Zipolite - A Care Free Day

I always try and go the extra mile at Christmas to thank my staff for all their loyalty and hard work all year. There is a new, small, excellent tour company named Next Stop Huatulco that has opened and they do fun and different experiences. I decided to splurge and spend a day and quite a bit of the evening in Zipolite. We settled in at the best known hotel in Zipolite. Some of the younger people decided to take a quick visit to Mazunte just up the road. A driver was available. If we wanted something that was not on the agenda like a mezcal tasting our impressive guide Maryrose could make it happen. Some of the gang went shopping, but most were swimming, tanning, eating, drinking, relaxing, laughing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. The best part of this day for myself was watching my gang interact and genuinely enjoy each. I am a one lucky guy.

My wife and I were staying in La Crucecita and had heard a lot about Zipolite, but we were a bit hesitant to go on our own. Thankfully, we decided to join the Zipolite tour, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Maryrose, was fantastic—her warmth, expertise, and passion for the region truly made the day special. Before heading to Zipolite, we stopped in a charming little town that set the perfect tone for the adventure. It had such a wonderful, authentic Mexican feel, and we loved exploring its streets. We also visited a local market where we found some unique items that we couldn't resist. Zipolite itself was breathtaking—its laid-back vibe and stunning beach views were amazing, and Maryrose shared so much about the area. One of the highlights was the beachfront restaurant she took us to. The food was delicious, the views were incredible, and it was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with a great vibe, great food, and a wonderful guide. If you're thinking of exploring the Oaxacan coast, I highly recommend this tour—Maryrose truly makes it an experience you won't forget. Great value for such an awesome day. Thanks, Maryrose!

My husband and I were celebrating our 500 month wedding anniversary in Huatulco. The concierge at our hotel told us about a new small tour company that offered a day trip to Zipolite. We love Mexico and have been countless times in the course of our marriage, but had never visited a small, totally authentic beach town. Maryrose our FUN guide was very accodating. She told us there was a big market every Monday in city on the way to Zipolite. I LOVE markets and we made a divination. I combed the market. Next deviation to another small beach town full of young kids on their laptops and carrying their surfboards. We made a brief pit stop at a co-op where indigenous woman make 100% organic lotions, shampoos, soaps, etc.. I left with a big hual. When we arrived in Zipolite we did some shopping on the only short main road (which was a dirt road) where the stores are located. We had lunch at a perfect beach restaurant that is part of the hotel that is considered the best in Zipolite. We opted to sit on the beach under a huge umbrella on comfortable lounge chairs instead of the restaurant which is on the beach as well with a covered roof and fans. After a fabulous lunch of fish and seafood we went swimming and soaked in the sun. Next stop a mezcal tasting. A first for us. We are alway eager to try new and local experiences. This alcohol is an acquired taste. The owner was extremely knowable and we learned about the drink of choice in Oaxaca. As we headed home we finished the day at beach bar that only has swings for seating. It is right on the beach and was a perfect end to our adventurous day.

I live in Huatulco and a some of my university friends were getting together for a reunion.  I was tasked with the responsibility of organizing a day out for the group.  Most of my friends have been to Huatulco to visit me so I wanted to come up with something new and different. My assistant had just had arranged a night out for her friend - a bride to be.  She found a new company called Next Stop Huatulco.  I Googled the company and saw a tour called Zipolite - A Carefree Day that could potentially be a perfect day out.  I worked with Maryrose (the founder) and we crafted an itinerary that was slightly different and better suited for the day. We had a excellent time!  We left early and returned late and exhausted from fun, sun, laughter, food, drinks, swimming, a mezcal tasting and one last stop for beverages sitting on swings at a beach bar at sunset. My friends thought the day was refreshing to do something genuinely different. Thank you to Maryrose and to all those who treated us like VIP's!
