Our entire family loved the wombat experience! We were picked up by our guide and pro wombat photographer, Damon, in the 21 passenger bus adjacent to the Mariott in Sydney. He had a large array of snacks (fruit, granola bars, chips, Tim-Tams, etc) and bottled water for everyone. The bus had wifi and spare power banks in case you need to charge your device. The first stop was about an hour south of Sydney via the Princes Highway at the Sublime Point Lookout which has a fantastic elevated view of the coast overlooking Wollongong. We spent about 20 minutes here enjoying the view and availing ourselves of the public restrooms. From there, we continued south on the M1 until reaching the A48 to ascend the mountains. Motion sick people beware: this road consists of several 180-degree switchbacks while ascending to the ridge. We arrived at the Robertson Pie Shop close to 1PM. There are plenty of pies to choose from and yes, they even had two gluten-free pies (I believe one was chicken and the other was beef). After lunch, we visited two waterfalls. The first was a short 15 minute ride away to Carrington Falls which offers spectacular views and great photo ops. The second was Fitzroy Falls and was about another 20 minutes in the bus. From there, we dropped down into the Kangaroo Valley to visit a recreation/camping area which is where we were introduced to the wombats, kangaroos, and wallabies (near 4pm). The wombats are adorable little creatures! The kangaroos and wallabies were a little camera shy and yet, we were able to get some great photos. We spent a little over an hour wandering the grounds meeting all the local inhabitants. From there, we drove to the pub for our supper. Typical pub-grub: burgers, Aussie-parmie, and the gluten-free option was a vegetarian curry with rice. Afterwards, the drive back was near two hours with a bathroom break in the middle and I believe we returned on the M31. Damon was able to drop most of us off at the door to our hotels. A huge thank you to Damon for an amazing day!
Great experience. Damon ourtoyr guide was great, funny, and very informative. He had snacks, portable power chargers and water as well as extra jackets if people didn't dress warm enough. He was responsive to my questtion via WhatsApp. The sites were great and we got to see wombats, kangaroos and wallibees. Highly recommend this tour.
Damon was awesome! Super knowledgeable and fun to hang out with for the day. The day was perfectly paced, with stops along the way for bathroom needs and food. And the Timtams, new found treat for this American. When it came time for the animals it was truly special, he got us down to the park before others arrived and it was as if we had our own personal one on one with the wombats and kangaroos. He made sure to take some awesome pictures of us with the animals with our own phone, but just in case you're not a photographer he took some amazing photos and just gave them to us, which was pretty amazing too. Hands down one of the best tours I've taken so far.
Five stars for Damon and the wild wombat and kangaroo tour. It delivered on the animals as a highlight (we spent over an hour with wombats and kangaroos in their natural habitat), but the rest of the day was great too - visiting national parks, waterfalls, stargazing and dinner at a small inn. All were enjoyable and Damon was personable with every member of the tour throughout the day. A true highlight of our two week trip. Highly recommend!
The tour guide was super knowledgeable and was super helpful with getting pictures of us at the scenic locations and with the animals. They even gave us some additional recommendations for things to do while in Australia. The hotel drop off at the end was also great. Wonderful experience!
Genuinely cannot recommend this tour enough!! Damon was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to chat to. As a solo traveller I was really worried that I wouldn't have anyone to talk to, but by introducing ourselves on the bus, it was so easy to speak to people and ask them about their fun fact! The locations were stunning and we were so fortunate to see some incredible animals and birds. The pie shop was adorable and the snacks throughout were very much appreciated! Big thank you to Damon for the wonderful trip!

Damon took us and a small group on an excellent tour through multiple national parks, waterfalls, brief stargazing, lunch and a local dinner, and yes, over an hour with wombats and kangaroos all around us going about their normal business. It was a fantastic day and an experience we highly recommend for anyone spending more than a day or two in Sydney. The animals were the centerpiece but not the only highlight. Thanks!
Why is it worth it? Because Dave takes care of everything and everyone! The way he treated nature and the animals was also important to him - that was exemplary! Simply great - everything! (An injured animal on the road was also caught and safely delivered!) Thanks Dave!
One of the best tours ever. Dave took care of us. He had snacks, drinks, music, jokes and would answer all our questions. By far, one of our best tours ever. Highly recommend it.
