Near Luxor Temple my wife bought a papyrus painting from a local shop. The vendor was friendly and gave her a good price. Our guide Tamer didn't push us into the shop. He waited patiently. The painting was of the temple itself. She was so happy with it. We then toured the temple and she took photos with her new souvenir. Karnak had been impressive but this was more personal. Admission fee was 45 usd each. Length of visit was four hours. Atmosphere was shopping and sightseeing. Crowd size was busy near the shop. Staff were not pushy and respectful. Best for couples who like souvenirs.

My kids loved the scarab statue
My kids circled the scarab statue at Karnak seven times like our guide Hala told them. They ran around it laughing. She said it would bring them good luck for exams. They believed her. Then we went to Luxor Temple and they found more scarab carvings on the walls. They were obsessed. The guide was brilliant with them. Admission fee was 32 usd per adult and 15 per child. Length of visit was four hours. Atmosphere was silly and superstitious. Crowd size was large but they didn't care. Staff were fun and engaging. Best for families with superstitious kids.

My friend asked about the mosque
My friend asked our guide Adel about the mosque built inside Luxor Temple. He wanted to know if it was still used. Adel said yes and people still pray there. My friend found it fascinating that a mosque is inside an ancient temple. We walked up the stairs and saw the prayer room. Karnak didn't have that mix so this was special. Admission fee was 40 usd each. Length of visit was four hours. Atmosphere was religious and historical. Crowd size was moderate. Staff were respectful and knowledgeable. Best for friends who like religious history.

My friend tried to climb the obelisk
My friend thought it would be funny to try and climb the obelisk at Luxor Temple. Our guide Gamal stopped him quickly. He told him it was forbidden and dangerous. My friend apologized and we all laughed. The guide was stern but fair. We then toured the rest of the temple without any climbing. Karnak had enough climbing steps for him anyway. Admission fee was 42 usd each. Length of visit was four hours. Atmosphere was naughty then obedient. Crowd size was large and people watched. Staff were strict but friendly. Best for friends who are cheeky.

My friend got lost in Karnak
My friend wandered off to take a selfie and we couldn't find him for fifteen minutes. Karnak is so huge and maze like. Our guide Karim calmly walked through the columns calling his name. We finally found him near the sacred lake. He was taking photos of the scarab statue. We all laughed. The guide then took us to Luxor Temple where everything was more open and we couldn't lose anyone. The history was deep and the stones were warm from the sun. Admission fee was 38 usd each. Length of visit was four hours. Atmosphere was funny and exploratory. Crowd size was busy but we managed. Staff were patient and understanding. Best for friends who wander off.
