We did a 6 day tour with Ranger Safaris is July 2026, two days in the Ngorogoro Crater, 2 in Kati Kati Camp in the Serengeti an finally onto Lake Manyara. The whole experience was a trip of a lifetime and exceeded all our expectations. We had a private tour with a guide called Thadei Benne who was unbelievably knowledgeable. We learned so much info about the land, the animals and the culture which was an absolute bonus as he was so well informed and also very relaxed. There was never a rush or a hurry and what we wanted to see was always his priority. We were incredibly lucky to see all the big 5 but so many other animals and birds, some we hadn't even heard of. We saw a fascinating insight into their habits and saw their behaviours up close and personal. I never would have believed that we would get to be able to just sit and stare and watch them for as long as we wanted. We saw mating lions and Thadei told us that they take themselves off and mate every 25-30 minutes for up to a week! Sure enough that's exactly what happened-you could set your watch by it! I worried about food before I went but there was absolutely no need. All our lodges and campsites (Kati Kati in particular) had huge buffets each night and there were loads of delicious things to choose from. All of them served alcohols/cokes/juices and the service was incredibly attentive. We have joked about going back to Tanzania to buy a new bed because everywhere we stayed the beds were huge and so comfortable. There's nothing about this safari that I wouldn't recommend but I would say on the last day we were finished by lunchtime and our flight to Zanzibar wan't til the evening. The handover was at a hotel and apart from a delicious lunch there was very little to do for the whole afternoon. It felt like a bit of a wasted day, especially after the high of the safari. Would definitely recommend.
