Very good, recommended tour, but it is also challenging. Worth the money
The pickup was on time to the minute.
However, we stood at a police checkpoint in Safaga for almost 1 hour because the route to Luxor is only cleared for tourists starting at 6 a.m.
The recommendation to start early, here in the text, therefore makes little sense. We had requested 4:30, but 5:30 would have easily sufficed. The drive was great, the car a mid-sized sedan, the driver super friendly (Arabic-speaking, with basic English skills, but with a translator and guide who translates, no problem), he tried hard to anticipate our every wish.
We were dropped off and picked up again directly in front of the door at every attraction, the communication worked perfectly.
The tour guide was very ambitious, experienced, and committed.
We had no waiting times for anything. We were very, very well advised and taken care of.
He was very happy that we had genuine interest in what he had to tell.
He was always happy to go the extra mile, take photos, make recommendations, keep the pushy vendors off our backs, or provide one more answer.
He coordinated everything perfectly for us. The food was also excellent. We could choose at what time we wanted to schedule it; it was freshly prepared upon request.
There were additional offers, but we could decline or book them as we wished; we just couldn't avoid the alabaster factory 😉.
But even there, we could have left without buying anything if we had wanted to.
NOTE:
We were in Hurghada in September with 31 degrees and thus 39 degrees in Luxor.
The sun and the heat are relentless and the extremely hot, humid air in the tombs is unbearable; you really must not have any circulatory problems!
Per tomb, 3 are included, 8-12 minutes!
But you can hardly manage more than that anyway.
It is partly very steep and deep down.
- Take plenty of water with you!
- Sun protection at the maximum level!
- A handheld fan or folding fan!
- Proper shoes (it is steep and slippery)
On the trip from Hurghada to Luxor (at least 3.5 hours) there are only 1-2 opportunities along the way to buy something or go to the restroom, and it was only reasonably clean again in Karnak.
And finally, locals who are presumably supposed to guard the sites want to give tips INSIDE THE SITES, take photos, show you something, or help you in some other way... they are all just baksheesh hunters.
Take enough cash with you to be able to hand out tips, but don't let yourself be constantly "hustled," ignore them as best you can.
Admission fees were really all included, transfer buses too, only the drinks with meals were extra.

Fantastic experience
Our trip to Luxor was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, everything was well organised. The taxi ride was comfortable, smooth and efficient, and Luxor itself was simply breathtaking. The tombs were incredibly impressive and it was fascinating to learn more about the history and culture of this beautiful place.
What made the day truly special, though, was our guide, Ahmed Valentino. He was absolutely fantastic! Ahmed has so much passion for what he does and shared so much interesting information with us. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and flexible, and was more than happy when we made some changes to the schedule.
The local meal that was arranged for us was also delicious and a lovely addition to the day.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience and a truly memorable day. We would highly recommend Ahmed Valentino to anyone visiting Luxor. He really made our trip extra special!

Day visit to Luxor from Hurgada

Brillant private tour led by the excellent Valentino
We booked a private tour of Luxor to ensure we had the flexibility around tour times and to do exactly what we wanted but also to leave and return when we wanted.
We were picked up at 6am from makadi resort and arrived in Luxor around 9.40am. The transport was very comfortable for the 2 of us (a private car).
The tour itself was led by the excellent Valentino, who was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and you knew he loved and lived his job and was a great tour guide. He also took great photos of us. We had the option to pay extra to see additional tombs at the valley of the kings (we took this up and saw the tomb of rameses 5 and 6) and also had the option of a trip to banana island. We didn’t do this which was for the decision we took for us. After the site visits in Luxor we had a nice lunch and returned home and arrived back at our hotel at 6pm.
Overall if you want a personal, private tour scheduled to suit you. This is the way to go. It was great to have the private experience led by a knowledgeable guide. Despite it being a busy day it was relaxed and we really enjoyed it.

Superb day
Magnificent day in the Valley of the Kings + temple + colossi + Karnak.
Everything was top-notch, from the pick-up (cold drinks / snacks and ice cream as needed during the day), to the explanations given all day by the French-speaking guide. Nothing pushes for additional consumption; everything is clear and perfectly timed/explained.
Experience to be repeated!
We traveled with two children aged 8 and 9.

The organization was top-notch from start to finish: everything was perfectly orchestrated, the meal was very good, and the day went off without a single hitch.

Perfect... a must-experience!!!
Our guide Ahmed-Valentino accompanied us with a lot of passion, knowledge, and education. Shared a great deal of important information, but always very interesting, and it made you want to learn more. Not boring for 1 minute! But the important thing was how safe we felt with him!!
