Mikaela was our guide and love it
If this was in the prep information for the tour and I missed it, I apologize. To enter the Basilica you must have your shoulders and knees covered, I had neither but the tour guide had a large scarf that I wrapped around me. I’m grateful she was willing to loan it to me. When we entered DOGE, you can’t have a backpack, which I also did not know. There is an area to stow it. They provide an ear hung speaker to hear the guide. I could not figure out how to get it to properly hang from my ear, it was annoying and I ended up holding it most of the time. The guide provides a lot of information, she’s very detailed. However, the accent made it difficult for me to completely understand everything, but this might have been compounded by the ear speaker. It’s hard to say. We found Venice somewhat hard to navigate because of the tight streets and our phones struggled a bit with directions. We were able to find the first office, easily. When you’re done with the Basilica and DOGE, there is just no easy way to get to the other office for the gondola ride. We had to stop and ask someone because they only gave us the street name and no address. When we arrived at the second office they kindly squeezed us into an earlier group which was greatly appreciated.
Valentina was an excellent tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and she had a great calmness about her. We love the history and architecture. Don’t miss this tour.

Great place to visit as stunningly Beautiful inside. Luckily was not a queue outside as was a very hot day. The only downside was the coldness of certain security guards inside the basilica looking at the tourists like we shouldn’t be there and certainly did not want us there and ordering us on abruptly and unprofessionally with hand gestures and rudeness.
