Sarah our English speaking guide was brilliant she navigated through the crowds and managed to keep us informed and educated throughout. She was passionate and clearly knew her subject. The only downside is the crowds though was expected.
Horrible experience, skip the queue is not what you think. Only applies to getting through the entrance, you still wait 15-20 minutes and the go through security which is another 10 minutes. Packed in like sardines in a tin, hard to see anything for the crowds of people. Disappointing and horrific experience for 190 AUD each.
Book your own tickets in advance with the Vatican. Our local company contracted by Viator was not very friendly, communicative, or on time. The on time thing very frustrating since their communication to me was basically "don't be late, we don't wait on you". But we waited too long to book our own tickets and this was our only way in. So it served a purpose.
Amazing time we had doing the on your own tour only issue was extremely long lines and the heavens open up with rain I never experienced before…the streets flooded and taxi’s raised their prices 🤷🏽♀️ other than that Viator is the way to go!
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Knees and shoulders must be covered, but dress as lightly as possible. Museums are very warm.
