エチミアジンは、世界最古の国営教会であるアルメニア使徒教会の聖地です。ここでは誰もが博物館「エチミアジンの宝物」を訪れ、聖槍 (槍)、イエスの使徒と洗礼者ヨハネの遺物、ノアの箱舟の破片を見ることができます。 聖フリプシメ教会は、7 世紀のアルメニアの使徒教会です。この教会は、教会が捧げられた殉教した聖フリプシメの遺骨の上にカトリコス コミタスによって建てられました。聖ガヤネ教会は、再びエチミアジンにある 7 世紀のアルメニア教会です。聖ガヤネは 630 年にカトリコス エズラ 1 世によって建てられました。この教会は女子修道院長ガヤネに捧げられており、聖ガヤネが拷問を受けた場所に建てられました。 エイミアジンの近くに 7 世紀に建てられたズヴァルトノツ寺院は、世界建築の傑出したモニュメントです。 2000 年、ズヴァルトノッツは、聖フリプシメ教会、聖ガヤネ教会、エチミアジンの大聖堂とともに、ユネスコの世界遺産に登録されました。

The friendly driver Dikran picked me up on time. He showed me around the places visited, and shared some stories about Armenia. The only thing that I may not be happy was I had to pay two tickets to get in Zvartnots Cathedral as the driver had to drive inside the site.

Even though the museum was closed during my visit, Dikram was an amazing guide. As a Roman Catholic, Dikram gave me an understanding of how the nation of Armenia became the first Christian nation and also gave me tours of other churches. I highly recommend this tour, and thanks to Arevik for contacting me a day before the tour. Without Dikram, my tour guide, I wouldn’t have been able to visit these sites. 😊
