Perfect hike up wearing sneakers. Not too difficult. Toured an amazing cave as well. The guide was great. The knowledge about the vulcano and formation of creators and caves was excellent. The only issue I had was that in addition to English he also had to translate in Spanish for two of the group. This is most likely an exception because the tour was specified as English
Great tour. Would recommend to all.
Claudio our guide was brilliant! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic about the subject and very caring, made sure we were all ok. Joke wasn’t too difficult and I appreciated the walking shoes, thank you!
Amazing Etna sunset experience tour with Itala 🤩 Itala is very passionate about Etna and the area, and you can feel and hear it - she knows a lot about the area and she generously shares her knowledge. The caves visit and local products tasting on the way to Etns was also very nice.
Vitale picked us up just up the road from where we were staying. She was friendly, very knowledgable and it was clear she had a love for Etna and what she does. The trip is how it is described and was an incredibly fascinating and beautiful experience.
Pick up point in Taormina had. Afterwards it turned out that the tour guide could also have picked up place at a location closer to our stay. Which would have saved a long drive back. The tour itself was through a village where we had a tasting of honey and oil. During the entire ride, the guide also told about the villages and their history. Then there was another stop at a cave where we were allowed to enter for a while and then continue to the point where we walked up Mount Etna. This tour did not go all the way to the top of Etna, but stayed near the restaurants. The temperature difference was right it was 10 degrees colder than in Catania city (it was about 18 degrees on the mountain) All in all a nice trip with lots of information about history and about Mount Etna. The guide also took pictures for the participants.
Nando was an amazing tour guide with tremendous passion for Etna and the region. We not only got to walk some of the craters on Etna and go into an old lava tube - Nando made an extra stop on the way home so we could look back at the volcano to see the lava flowing. Amazing!!
Great trip, our guide was lovely, so friendly and knowledgeable about the volcano, its history and ecology. The views were amazing and we took some amazing photos.
This tour on Etna is an unmissable experience... the professionalism and friendliness of a guide like Lorenzo made it fantastic. We got to know this mountain in all its forms and understood why it is respected and loved by Sicilians. The tasting at Rifugio Sapienza is unmissable. Doing it at sunset is a unique emotion... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Our family of four booked this excursion to add variety to our typical city, historical and food based tours and we were not disappointed! Christian was a knowledgeable tour guide, he communicated well on the day of and the main company communicated well during the booking process. We did start off at the volcano caves which wasn't as interesting as we expected and probably could have skipped it altogether. If we had each been given flashlights it might have been more enjoyable, we were standing in the dark for good bit and other tours coming in and out made it hard to hear/follow what our guide was telling us. The tour starts at a shop/restaurant at the base of the hiking trail and the tasting included some wine, honey and liquors but no real snacks...so make sure you eat before the hike or grab some snacks at the restaurant before the tasting. Christian kept a pretty quick pace on the hike and did his best to keep the group (8) together. We have been on many hikes previously but this one was different because the ground is fairly unstable, more like gravel than solid ground. This gave us all a good challenge but could be harder than expected for anyone with mobility issues. The tour company did provide hiking shoes (need to be requested in advance) which was very helpful. The shoe sizes weren't exactly what we had pre-ordered, but they were manageable enough. Overall this was a highlight of our vacation, unexpected, challenging and very rewarding. Definitely bring water and a heavier jacket or hoodie, it was quite chilly and very windy the higher up we climbed.
