ザンジバルの旧奴隷市場は東アフリカ奴隷貿易の一大拠点であった。 1873年の閉鎖後、跡地には聖公会基督教会大聖堂が建てられ、祭壇は鞭打ち台があった場所に置かれた。 奴隷制度の残虐行為に対する記念碑であり、 廃止の象徴 でもある。
1936年にスルタン・ハリーファのシルバー・ジュビリーを記念して作られたフォロダーニー庭園は、ザンジバルのストーンタウンにある歴史的なウォーターフロント公園です。
石の町で手に入るポルトガル語の影響。 16世紀に建てられた石造りの町で最も古い建物で、今も頑丈に残っています。
ザンジバル最大の歴史的な市場で、アラブ人がもたらし、イギリス人が設計した。

We met Ahmed at the harbor and got a fantastic tour with that little extra! He has enormous knowledge of the history of Zanzibar and Tanzania and also showed us some hidden gems. Now we are well prepared with a lot of insights for our last two days in Stonetown!

HB was a great tour guide, integrating specific sights that we had requested with a fairly standard tour of the city (and Prison Island!). He also was very helpful when we were shopping, taking us to shops that had fixed prices, and assisting us with negotiating prices when our eyes were caught by other places. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Stone Town!

This was a really enjoyable 3 hours around Stone Town. Our guide HB was perfect, really informative and thoughtful, he made the walk interesting,especially his knowledge of the slave market, educating us with great detail and a clear understanding of the horrific events.
