If you want to experience life in Crete, including authentic food and drink and lived history, this is the tour for you! Manolis has deep roots in Crete and makes you feel like you are part of his family. During golden hour, Manolis led us to an ancient Orthodox monastery with colorful history and murals. After walking and driving in Athens and other islands, it was so refreshing to just get on a bike and breathe in the fresh country air while bathing in views of olive tree orchards, green fields and ancient stones. As we followed the winding road through three villages, we met many people of all ages and the many cute dogs and cats enjoying the evening. Everyone was so friendly and we exchanged greetings of "Yiassas!" wherever we went. This was the perfect tour for our family of four, with two girls ages 22 and 19. Manolis made all of us feel comfortable. He is very knowledgeable and works as an accountant by day - this is a labor of love he does in memory of his father. Manolis has worked in Italy in Parma - a major force in the food culture of Italy - and shared his comparisons between the grappa of Italy and the Cretan liqueur we shared during our meal in a village taverna hosted by a wonderful couple. Come prepared to have a fantastic cultural adventure and experience the warmth of the people of Crete!

I can’t recommend this tour enough. I love biking and I thought that would be the highlight of the tour, but it wasn’t. The highlight was spending time with Manolis in his childhood village and learning about his family and the way he is trying to preserve the old life. Our tour started at his Aunt’s garden with fresh lemonade and a story to set the stage for the adventure. His love for his village pours out of him. It was an honor to spend time with him.

Unique experience. Highly recommended. I would do it again. The place is very beautiful. K. Manolis is impeccable, friendly and kind. He wants to make you part of the story and convey as much information as he can. The bikes are incredible. They make it all very easy and fun.
