We enjoyed the tour and the guide.

A journey back to times that we can actually hardly imagine today. Despite the fact they only lie some centuries back. Very good story teller. At the beginning unfortunately a constant on and off headphone connection depending on how and how far away the guide stood. Thank you for an impressive lecture on Edinburgh history.

Michael was a fantastic tour guide, with a very contagious energy. He presented both facts and mystery with an expert proficiency, and very quickly became a highlight of our time in Edinburgh. Thanks Michael!

Michael was the best, I wish he had more stories to share but we had the best time. I just wished that we had ended the tour where the underground vaults were. Nevertheless it was great.

Worth doing a tour with Mercat! The ghost tour we did with Michael was very animated and great combo of history and spooky stories. Would do another with them again!

The Mercat "Doomed, Dead, and Buried" tour was fantastic, largely thanks to our amazing guide, Ash. She strikes the perfect balance between atmospheric storytelling, sharp humor, and pure entertainment. Her cackle echoing through the underground vaults is something we won't soon forget! Do yourself a favor and request Ash for your Edinburgh vault experience. 10/10!

An excellent tour. The guide was an absolute mind of information. A good size of group with about seventeen of us so not too large. Easy to find our starting place and the headphone sets meant that even in the noisy royal mile we could all hear the guide easily without straining. A real plus for those of us with not 100% hearing. The guide, Nicola, was engaging and a proper actress ( in the nicest of ways!). She held our attention with bloodthirsty tales of execution and torture around the sites we visited. The vaults were great. You really expected to hear strange noises or see things but sadly this was not to be. I did expect some outside influence from colleagues for effect but this didn't happen and was not needed. Your imagination did the work for you. Around the two hour mark was excellent value for money. I heard the minimum age was five years for the tour. I thought this a little young for the tales told but everybody sees thing differently. All in all a great way to spend an evening in Edinburgh.

We had a brilliant experience with our storyteller, Ash. I'm a complete scardey cat so I jumped every time something scary happened - plenty of drama and humour, told in an intriguing way! Thank you Ash, for showing us a side of Edinburgh I've never known and guiding us carefully through the " mean spirits" in the vaults.
