Our guide was Sebas and we were amazed by his professional and human quality. Thanks to him we learned a lot about the history of Ireland and he recommended many places to eat. Professionals like him make you want to book routes and tours with this company. Thank you very much, Sebas.
Jack Redmond led our 2.5 hour walking tour of Dublin today. He kept it interesting and personal. We followed his suggestions afterwards and walked through Trinity College and took the train to see the cliffs of Howth. It was a 13mile day and we were back before our cruise left. Jack’s knowledge made the most of our day in port.
SUMMARY - great tour! Definitely would recommend and glad we did it early on our second day. Did the paid tour which was great value. MEETING - Took us a little while to find the exact spot, but Dublin is so small that you can walk to the meetup point pretty much from any central location or hotel in Dublin. We booked a paid for small group tour, and it turned out it was just us and Peter the owner/operator of Yellow Umbrella Tours- TOUR - It was a couple of hours, with Peter walking us around various locations and giving us a lot of background and history that I was completely unaware of, even having been born and brought up in England before moving the the US. I really appreciated that added context to all the various places, it made it so much more interesting than just looking at a building or point of interest, and Peter was not only very knowledgeable, but because it was a small group tour we were able to interact and ask additional questions without being too much of a pain. Finished outside Trinity and it turned out that Peter was a former student (for Americans reading this, Trinity is like Ireland's Harvard or Yale) - as Peter said wryly, you'll always know a Trinity man - because they'll tell you they are! Funny dude :-) COST/MISC - My wife booked it and we normally do free walking tours, but she picked out this paid one for maybe 17EUR (?), and tbh it was well worth it and I'd do the paid one by preference over the free ones because, as someone who's hearing is a bit bad, it was great to be able to hear everything he was saying, to ask to repeat if I didn't hear, or to ask for extra details if we wanted. So yeah I think we got lucky being the only ones on the tour, but I would definitely recommend the company, Peter himself, and the very reasonable price of the tour. Good job and thanks again Peter!
We had a great tour with Peter. He was knowledgeable and informative about Dublin and Irish history. Was a great way to get introduced to Dublin
Peter was a really kind guy with a lot of knowledge. We liked the tour very much, since he showed us places where I might not have gone too, since they are so hidden or unspectacular, till he tells you something about it. We learned so much and it was very fun! I enjoyed it a lot and was delighted to have Peter as the tour guide!
We did the walking tour on the first day of our trip in Dublin, and as it was our first time visiting the city, it was a perfect way to get our bearings. Our tour guide (Conor) was very friendly and knowledgeable - we learnt all about the history of Dublin. The tour lasted about 2 hours and we were able to stop off and buy a coffee half way. We were recommended the restaurant Lundy Foot’s which does a discounted menu for people who have been on the tour - we had a delicious meal here! Would highly recommend!
Today we went to tour Dublin with Yelow umbrella. When the Guide arrives Rebekah asks us what if we all go together (family of 7 members), we explain that we are family, to which she tells us that she has to separate us into two groups, “because it is the policy what they have”, but after asking her that if something could be done, she replies that if we assure her that we will pay a min of 15 € per person would make an exception. Very poorly educated and high-handed. With the Ana guide there was no problem, we could do the tour, with a final experience of 10. Thank you Ana!
The REBECA guide wanted to impose a minimum price of 15 euros to NOT separate a family into two groups.. shame, I travel a lot and always use free tours and I have never encountered such a high-handed tour guide.
Peter was charming, highly engaging and his passion for Dublin is evident. I enjoyed every minute of this walking tour.
We had our tour with Jack and it was great! He made the tour really interesting and funny. Next to that, he gave us a few insider tips, on what to see and what to do. We would definitely recommend it!
