ポンペイの遺跡は、ナポリ湾沿岸に近いカンパニア地方南部の広大な考古学遺跡である。 かつて繁栄し洗練されたローマ都市であったポンペイは、紀元79年のヴェスヴィオ山の壊滅的な噴火の後、何メートルもの灰と軽石の下に埋められました。 保存された遺跡の特徴は、発掘された通りや、訪問者が自由に探索できる家屋が残っている。
市民フォーラムは、市の日常生活の中心を表し、市の行政と司法、ビジネスの管理、市場などの商業活動のためのすべての主要な公共の建物、都市の礼拝の主要な場所に加えて、それを見落とします。
フォルムの北側には木星神殿が君臨し、その背後にはヴェスヴィオが壮観にそびえている。 植民地の演繹（紀元前80年）によって神殿は徹底的な改修の対象となり、本物のカピトリウムとなり、ローマのカピトリウムを模倣したユピテル、ユーノー、ミネルウァの3体のカルト像が高い台座に置かれ、フォルム広場を通りかかった人々に見えるようになった。
マケッラムは凝灰岩のクアドリ柱廊からなり、東側には礼拝堂が入り口に沿って高台に設けられている。 ポンペイのマケッラムは、人々が食料を買うことができる都市市場に他ならなかった。 フォーラムの北東に位置するこの複合施設は、確かに頻繁に訪れる人々が多いため、混雑を作りすぎないように広場から邪魔にならないようにしなければならなかった。 柱廊の壁には、魚や家禽の販売といった日常生活の風景や神話の題材が描かれていた。
アボンダンツァ通りは、カンパニア州にある古代都市ポンペイのメインストリートのひとつで、フォルムと円形劇場をつないでいる。
スタビアン浴場はそれぞれ異なる時期に造られた。 建設の初期段階は紀元前4世紀（台形の土台を持つジム）に遡る。 アボンダンツァ通りの正面玄関は広い中庭に通じている。 プールは左側にあり、コロネードは右側にあり、男性用宿舎はアポディテリウム（脱衣所）とフリギダリウム（冷風呂用）に分かれており、そこからテピダリウム（中温風呂用）、カルダリウム（温風呂用）へと続いている。暖房は、炉や移動式火鉢からの熱気を循環させる壁と二重床の配管システムによって保証された。 男性用に近い女性用は同様にアポディテリウム、テピダリウム、カルダリウムに分けられた。 ただし、いずれも男性用宿舎としてはより小さく、豊かな装飾はない）。
エロティックな絵画が描かれたポンペイの売春宿は、発掘調査の中でも最もよく知られた建物の一つであり、売春宿の機能を持っていた。 売春宿の売春婦は、ほとんどがギリシャ人と東洋人の奴隷であった。 建物は二階建て。 オーナーと奴隷の家は一番上にあり、一番下には5つの部屋があり、すべてビルトインベッドが取り付けられています。 売春宿の名前はラテン語で「売春婦」を意味するルパから取られている。
大劇場は紀元前2世紀中頃に建設され、ローマ様式に従って大幅に修復された。 劇場では、彼らはギリシア・ローマの伝統の喜劇や悲劇を象徴していた。 劇場は噴火の堆積物から完全に解放された最初の大きな公共建築物であった。

Fantastic experience, excellent guide. Operation from pick up to drop off prompt and swift. For two hours our guide took us to the highlights of Pompei. Another bucket list item ticked off. We rate the tour 12/10.

We had a great time at this excursion. The bus ride was smooth both ways. Our guided were friendly, knowledgable, and charming! The stop at the shell jewellery store was a fun touch. The day was perfectly paced!

Went into shop and booking was easy with pick up arranged at covenient place. Minibus took us to Pompeii and guide pointed out places of interest on the way. Arrived at site and jumped queue of more than 50 😋. Earpiece provided so able to hear guides excellent commentary throughout the tour. She was very knowledgable and obviously passionate about the subject. Facinating and with a sense of humour. Recommend 100% and worth the price.

The transportation and tour guide was excellent. I rated 3 because the group was too big and we kept loosing the audio from the tour guide. It is impossible to keep the group together because the streets are narrow, uneven and there are many other groups walking next to you at the same time.

Our family of 3 did a half-day tour of Pompeii in May 2025, leaving from Sorrento. It took about an hour to reach the site, then another 20-30 minutes to organize on site. This allowed us time to purchase a snack and refill our water bottles before entering the site. We walked through Pompeii for 3 hours, learning from our guide the whole way. She was knowledgeable about the site, but kept the tour moving so we could see as much as possible with the short time frame - while allowing plenty of time to ask questions and take lots of pictures! Pompeii in May was very hot and crowded. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, etc. I was grateful for my wide brimmed “tourist hat” and comfortable sneakers too!
