Awesome snorkeling!

Very cool experience - we went during the 2026 eclipse so it was incredibly busy, but the snorkeling was awesome and the staff was amazing. Would recommend!

Between the Continents - just call me Jacques Cousteau

It’s cold but beautiful. The dry suit liner keeps you warm and cozy while movement is a bit restricted. My advice is have a great thermal base including thick warm socks (maybe even 2-3 pair). My feet were very cold. And if you’re over 60 a medical clearance form from a doc is needed. Our Chiropractor signed ours - worked great.

Epic experience!

Our guide, Arman, was fantastic! He was very fun and informative. We arrived for the evening tour and had to wait a few minutes as the day had been VERY busy— this didn’t bother us at all because we were the last tour in the water and Arman let us take our time exploring. I definitely recommend coming in the evening and with Dive.IS — our group size was much smaller than some of the other organizations taking groups out. The experience itself is so wild. The dry suits are not the most comfortable and if you have any claustrophobia or sensory sensitivities you may struggle. It is especially snug around the neck and your hands and face do get wet and while the water warms from your body heat inside the gloves, it is cold. That said, the dry suit makes you totally buoyant so all you have to do is glide along in the gentle current as you check out the amazing fissure, blue glacial waters and wild algae growing from the rocks. It was both exhilarating and relaxing. The tour company provided tons of information ahead of the tour that was all very helpful for knowing what to expect upon arrival to thingviellir.

Snorkeling Silfra is an amazing excursion and working with Dive.is was a top notch experience. Our guide, Armand, was exceptional. He took time to educate everyone and made sure we were all comfortable throughout the event. I highly recommend snorkeling Silfra with Dive.is.

Overrated Tourist Trap

Silfra Snorkeling: A Total Waste of Time and MoneyDon't waste your time. This is easily the most overrated excursion in Iceland. It is a complete tourist trap. The Logistics: Total amateur hour. You spend 15 minutes fighting a dry suit. Then you stand around waiting in the cold for 30 minutes. Zero schedule. Zero efficiency. The Experience: They hype up the "tectonic plates," but it is just a bunch of rocks. You can see the exact same view from the walking path without getting wet.The Conditions: You swim for 25 minutes. Your face and lips freeze instantly. It is not an adventure; it is just uncomfortable and poorly managed. The Company (Dive.is): Subpar operation. They are aggressive with sales but completely useless in the water. If you struggle or hesitate, they do not offer support. They just tell you to turn around and quit.I don't recommend this. Look for real adventure elsewhere in Iceland.

Awesome Time!

Wow, what an experience! Loved our time with Diogo, who was a fantastic guide and human being. He walked us through everything and made sure we enjoyed our time there. The water was spectacular as well as the views in the fissure. The troll hair…really neat. Was it cold? Yes, but you adapt quickly to it. I’m cold-natured and I did just fine. Would advise folks to take their time, float and enjoy the views, and make sure you understand how to position yourself for photos.

Drysuits were very bad

I was completely wet in my suit and I was freezing the whole time as the temperature of the Water was around 2-4 degree Celsius. The Location was of course very unique and spectacular but you don’t enjoy it, as you feel very uncomfortable.

事業者からの返答

Hi Burak, We're very sorry to hear that this was your experience. We understand how uncomfortable it must have been to be wet and freezing throughout the tour, especially in water temperatures of around 2–4°C. We appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly at dive@dive.is so we can look into your experience in more detail and discuss it with you personally.

A must do!!

I have spent the summer back and forth to iceland on business and this is by far, one of the coolest excursions. I highly recommend it. It is very safe. Our guide, alex, was great. She made sure we were safe and took underwater photos for us. The beauty is indescribable. It is the clearest water I have ever seen. They give you a undercut and a drysuit, fins, mask, gloves, and a snorkel. They help you get into your drysuit, in irder to make sure it doesn't leak. Bring a pair of thermal underwear long sleeve m, top and bottom to wear under the suit. Also bring wool socks to keep your feet warm. There is a slight current to push you along. The suit is incredibly buoyant, so you float. Young and old can do it. I had reservations about being cold or wet and miserable, but honestly, I could have stayed in the water another hour or two. I was completely comfortable. They will have you go to the restroom first. After you are in your suit, you may have to wait up to 45 mins to get into the water, depending on how busy it is that day. The groups are small. One instructor to six guests. They space you apart so you are not on top of each other. Just float and enjoy the beauty. I understand why this is a worldwide, bucketlist snorkel and dive spot.
