Keep in mind buying tickets at the gate is only 30 euros, which is far less than this costs. Nothing wrong with this, but its nothing special. It basically let's you skip a line waiting for a ticket at the gate and but then you have to wait to get in.

While tickets may be purchased directly at the archaeological site, availability can vary, particularly during peak periods, and many travelers prefer the convenience of having their arrangements completed in advance before arriving at the Acropolis. That said, we understand that different travelers place different value on convenience and additional services. We are pleased that the ticket worked as intended and allowed you to avoid the ticket-purchase queue, even though access to the site itself is subject to the standard entrance procedures and security checks that apply to all visitors. I booked the tour and Viator charged me but because of a system glitch the tour was booked at the wrong time. I called the tour operator immediately and they told me they couldn’t help me and to call Viator. I did and basically Viator said the same thing. I’m out $107 because of a Viator issue and that’s too bad for me. This is unacceptable. Viator owes me $107. I will never use Viator again.

I really hate to write poor reviews because we have had such great success with other Viator excursions but the purchaser should be aware of this company. I gave the company 2 stars because we did get tickets to the Acropolis…however, the self guided audio tour was a rip off. We tried two phones using sophisticated Verizon Wireless and neither worked after 5 minutes. I contacted the company and they said no refunds. I contacted Viator and after telling me it does work and it must be my internet. Funny thing is the internet worked perfectly in all other areas. They referred the problem to another division and we never heard anything. We were extremely disappointed with the company and Viator’s response ….all I can say is buyer beware !!
Our guide, Panos, was very knowledgeable and engaging while navigating through the traffic in Athens. His car was very clean and comfortable, and he always found a place to pull over so I could take photos. It was also very convenient that he picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off at our ship. Overall, this tour was perfect to get a taste of Athens before boarding for our cruise.

The information given for the ticket purchase was misleading. People buying the tickets from the ticket office waited less than we did and they paid 30 EUR per adult and 15 EUR for kids while we pay 42 EUR per person without reduced price for kids.
Even if you're going in the shoulder season, like I did, do get your ticket(s) in advance. There will be two lines at the entrance: one for those who have tickets and one for the ticket booth. The operator is a little difficult to get a hold of, so DO NOT LOSE YOUR FIRST CONFIRMATION EMAIL. I did and it took both Viator and I nearly constantly trying to get in touch with the operator to get a new email with a working link to the tickets.
For the price, I’m not sure I’d do this again. Acropolis + Plaka village were both beautiful but the instructions on where to scan our tickets were unclear; and it’s possible to explore Plaka without a ticket or audiobook.

Great self guided audio tour. Easy to follow along and move at your own pace. Good price. I would recommend this over doing guided tour.

The self guided audio didn't work wasn't accessible. For entry only this was expensive as added charges commission to price displayed.
there were no landmarks or numbers at acropolis locations matching each segment of audio tour. that was frustrating although the tour has pictures of each segment. that was my major gripe.
