ジェラシュは、中東で最も保存状態の良い考古学的遺跡の一つである古代ローマの都市です。 アンマンの北約48キロメートルに位置する。 都市は紀元前2世紀に設立され、ローマの支配下で栄えた。 交易と商業の一大中心地であり、保存状態の良い遺跡には寺院、劇場、浴場、植民地時代の通りなどがある。
紀元129年にハドリアヌス帝の訪問を記念して建てられた壮麗な三重アーチの儀式用門。 古代都市への壮大な入口として機能しています。
全長245mの巨大なアリーナで、最大1万5000人の観客が集まり、戦車レースなどの運動会を観戦した。 座席スタンドや転回柱は今でも見ることができます。
ジェラシュで最も象徴的で、写真に撮られた場所の一つ。 この珍しく広々とした楕円形の広場は、イオニック様式の円柱のコロネードに囲まれており、街に目を引く視覚的な中心を提供しています。
主要なコロネード通りは800メートルにわたって伸びている。 現在も原石で舗装されており、古代の戦車が履いていた轍は今でも見ることができる。 この通りを歩くと、都市の規模と都市デザインを真に感じることができる。
西暦90～92年に建設された、3,000人以上の観客を収容できる大円形劇場。 音響の保存状態は著しく、現在でも演奏に使用されている。
この神殿は、街の守護女神に捧げられており、遺跡内で最も重要な建造物の1つである。 そのそびえ立つコリント式の柱は特に印象的です。
丘の上に佇むこの寺院からは、考古学遺跡全体を見渡す素晴らしいパノラマビューをお楽しみいただけます。
水のニンフに捧げられた華やかな公共の噴水。 水は流れなくなりましたが、その複雑な彫刻と装飾的なファサードは、今でも見ものです。

Had a great time in Amman and Jerash. Our driver/guide Mr Mint was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. He showed us some local deserts and tea, which was really nice. The only issue was that the tour was only 6 hours when we were driven to our hotel, not 7 hours as advertised.

For our first trip to Jordan—a short two-day stopover in Amman—we hoped to see as much of its famed antiquities and ruins as possible. After searching the endless tour possibilities to be found on TripAdvisor, the best tour itinerary was this one offered by R&H VIP Transportation. Their quick confirmation of our reservation followed by direct contact by our driver—Mohammad Bardaghawi—was immediately reassuring that we made the right choice, and Mohammad proved to be very flexible in working with our timetable, professional in all respects, and generous with his time, guidance and suggestions, and in introducing us to local treats such as “Turkish” coffee and knafeh. He picked us up on time at our hotel, made us comfortable throughout our day-long trip to Jerash and then back to explore Amman not only with his skillful driving but with his vast knowledge about the history of Jordan as well as the specific sites we saw, and then brought us back to our hotel. We had a wonderful experience and were delighted to learn he would be the one taking us to Petra the next day!

My driver, Ibrahim K went well beyond what might be expected of a private driver, escorting me inside venues, offering recommendations and driving me to an Armenian restaurant for the most delicious buffet! You can taylor the day to your liking, my driver was more than happy to adjust the tour to suit my needs and interests. The itinerary was followed as describe on Trip Advisor and I would not hesitate to recommend to other travelers visiting the region. For lovers of ancient history and archeology, this tour option is a must.
