自由広場は、同国の共和制精神と都市進化の象徴である。 新古典主義とモダニズムの建物に囲まれたこの広場は、かつて植民地時代のサンサルバドルの中心地であった。 近くにはイグレシア・エル・ロサリオ教会が建ち並んでいます。ブルタリスト様式の外観と虹色のステンドグラスに照らされたまばゆいばかりの内装が印象的なコンクリートの教会です。 その型破りなデザインは、ラテンアメリカで最もユニークな宗教構造の一つとなっています。 広場と教会が一体となって、街の深い歴史的・芸術的層を反映している。
この教会は、厳格な近代的なファサードの向こう側に、ステンドグラスの窓が作り出す息を呑むような光の戯れを見せています。 また、南北戦争中にこの地で起こった重要な出来事によって歴史的な意義も有しており、エルサルバドルの複雑な過去を理解するには必見の場所です。

We had Sammie as our guide—a super nice guy who shared a lot of information about El Centro and El Salvador in general. We really enjoyed the library, although we just missed seeing all the Christmas decorations.

However, nighttime visits don’t allow us to include tastings or visits inside the monuments, which is why the daytime experience offers a more complete discovery. This tour is a must do!!! Our sweet guide took us all over the city. We tried so many new foods, went to both touristy and local markets, and heard so much of El Salvador’s history. We fell in love with El Salvador in just 4 hours! Book this tour if you’re in San Salvador!
