This was a superb tour. We were taken to a very small wine producer and were treated to wine tasting in a beautiful, peaceful locaton. We were shown the wine making process literally one on one. There are only 27000 bottles of wine produced annually so the whole experience seemed very exclusive especially when we were taught how to secure the bottle top by the very process that was used, every bottle secured by hand. The wines were lovely and as we sat outside tasting them overlooking the beautiful vineyards we could hardly believe the beauty and peace surrounding us in the Loj winery. We then went on to the Santa Rita vineyard. This was so lovely, once again the views across the vineyards were amazing. We stopped for a quick wine tasting then went on to the Concha Y Toro winery where we tried three wines. It was a lovely day out and we learnt so much. Our guide was fantastic, nothing too much trouble for him and he ensured we had the best time. A tour not to be missed!
Dear Carole and Leonard Thank you so much for your beautiful and detailed revie!. I’m truly happy to hear that you and Leonard had such a wonderful wine experience and that the day felt special and memorable for you :) Moments like tasting wine surrounded by vineyards in such a peaceful setting are exactly what we hope our guests take with them. I’m also glad you enjoyed visiting Santa Rita and the other wineries — each one offering a different perspective on Chilean wine. Thank you as well for your kind words about the guiding. It was a real pleasure to spend the day with you, and I’m very happy to know you felt well taken care of throughout the experience. Thank you again for your trust and recommendation. I hope to welcome you back to Chile one day for more wine discoveries and beautiful moments. Stay safe in UK! Warm regards, Ignacio Pérez Gamboa City Trekking Guide
From start to finish was an amazing day with Ignacio. He took us to the Temple for a view of the city and two boutique wineries. He picked out a quiet place for lunch for authentic Chilean food. We got the opportunity to see most of Santiago throughout the day. Ignacio also talked about the culture and history of Chile.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write us this nice review Donald!! It was a pleasure to meet you both! I am glad that you have enjoyed the visit to the 2 wineries and the tasty chilean lunch. Keep travelling! All the best, Ignacio.
I had a wonderful time on the tour, it happened it was another couple and myself so very much private tour. It was an excellent experience to visit boutique with series that are not typically included in tours around Santiago. Our tour guide Ignacio had a wealth of knowledge about the city, Chile, its history, and wines so he was able to answer all our questions and provide recommendations. The wineries we visited had the best wines I tasted in Chile and I went on a few winery tours so that's saying something. Highly recommend.
Hola :) Thank you so much for your wonderful review and recommendation. I’m truly happy to hear that you had such a great experience and that the day felt personal and enjoyable :) It was a pleasure to share the tour with you and to visit those boutique wineries together. I’m especially glad to know that the wines stood out among your experiences in the Maipo Valley, Chile - that means a lot!! I hope to see you again soon! Safe travels, Ignacio
Ignacio picked us up right on time and our first stop was Baha'i temple which gave us a beautiful view of Santiago from high up. The temple was also beautiful. Our next stop was at Vina Aquitania winery where we had a wonderful tour from Valentina. She showed us the vines, which were about to be harvested, and explained that they were a completely organic winery. She showed where and how the wine was made. We then tasted four very good wines while sitting outside on a beautiful day. We then moved on for a very nice lunch of some authentic Chilean food at a family owned restaurant. The food was plentiful and delicious. Our last stop was the Besoin winery. Tomas gave us an excellent tour, explaining how the wine was made and then we tasted four excellent wines in a beautiful setting. All in all it was a great day. Ignacio was an excellent driver and guide who showed us many interesting things around Santiago while on an excellent wine tour.
Dear Kurt, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I’m truly happy to hear that the day felt like your ideal experience in Santiago. This means a lot to me! It was a real pleasure to share the day with you and your wife Jacqueline, starting from the views at the Bahá’í Temple to the experience at Aquitania with Valentina, the relaxed lunch, and finishing at Besoin Wines with Tomás. I’m glad you enjoyed the balance between scenery, wine, and local culture. Thank you as well for your kind words about the guiding and driving — making the day smooth, enjoyable, and meaningful is always my priority. I really appreciate your trust and hope to welcome you back to Chile one day for more great wines and new places to discover. Warm regards, Ignacio Pérez Gamboa
A very busy day with our excellent guide, Ignacio. He was so knowledgeable and filled in lots of additional information about Santiago and Chile. We started the day with a steep climb up steps to the Bahá'í Temple. This is a stunningly beautiful modern building, set against the backdrop of the Andes. Inside, an inspiring and beautiful place for quiet contemplation. On to our first winery of the day. Ignacio took us away from the advertised itinerary to two boutique, family owned wineries, each with very different approaches to winemaking. We were happy to trust his judgement. The first was Besoain Wines. A very traditional approach, using French Oak barrels, which the owner makes himself in the local cooperage. We tried the Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignons, a rose, and an unusual aged Riesling (2017), which was wonderful. All the wines were interesting and delicious. We stopped for a very tasty lunch at the rustic Restaurante La Vaquita Echá. At a large table in the centre sat the owners, surrounded by their extensive families. We had wonderful barbecued pork and lamb with fresh local salad. Our second winery was Vinos Lof ("Clan"). This is an ultra-modern building, set in the middle of the vineyard and surrounded on all sides by spectacular views of the mountains. We were show round by the owner's eldest daughter, who told us about her father's special approach to making and aging the wine. He uses no wooden barrels, and wine is made and aged in large concrete tanks. He believes you should taste the fruit without the intrusion of woody notes. The grapes are Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. We were joined by the owner as we tasted four wines, including a very interesting rose, produced from the Syrah. This was aged and oxidised to give a very dark pink wine with a unique, rich taste, almost like a Madeira. Tasting the two very different sets of wines, produced by very different techniques, was a great experience. The day completed with a drive back through the fantastic scenery, with the sun, now lower in the sky, beautifully illuminating the Andes. Thank you Ignacio. Great day!
Dear Ric, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and generous review. Reading your description of the day truly brought a smile to my face. I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience through the Maipo Valley :) It was a pleasure to show you around yesterday! I’m glad you appreciated the contrast between their winemaking philosophies in the boutique wineries (that diversity is part of what makes Chilean wine so interesting). I’m also happy you enjoyed the lunch at La Vaquita Echá Restaurant; it’s a place full of local character and Chilean tradition. Thank you again for trusting my suggestions for the wineries and for embracing the day with such curiosity and enthusiasm. It was truly a pleasure spending the day with you and Jeanette, and I hope to welcome you back to Chile one day for more wine discoveries and beautiful landscapes. Warm regards, Ignacio Pérez Gamboa Turismo City Trekking Guide
Ignacio was a fantastic leader, not only for his knowledge of Chilean wineries but also for his insights to life in and around Santiago. He curated a superb first experience with Chilean wine with 3 distinctly different wineries.
Dear Gord, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a kind review. I’m truly happy to hear that your first Chilean wine experience was such a memorable one. It was a real pleasure to share the day with you both, visiting different wineries (Aquitania, Portal del Alto and Concha y Toro) and exploring the diversity of the Maipo Valley together (I am glad we could make to visit an extra one). I’m also glad you enjoyed the conversations about life in and around Santiago - those exchanges always make the experience even more special so you can understand how is a normal day life in Santiago. Thank you again for your trust and for choosing City Trekking Guide. I hope to welcome you back to Chile one day for more great wines and new discoveries. Our private wine tour was hands down one of the highlights of the trip, and that was largely thanks to our amazing guide. From the beginning our guide Ignacio was kind, funny, and incredibly personable—more like spending the day with a friend who just happens to know everything about wine and the region. Ignacio made the whole experience feel relaxed and effortless, sharing great stories, local insights. You could tell he really loves what he does which makes the experience even more enjoyable. He also did a fantastic job tailoring the day to our interests and pacing everything perfectly so we never felt rushed. If you’re looking for a private wine tour that’s informative, fun, and full of personality, this is absolutely the way to go. Great wine, great conversation, and a guide who truly makes the day unforgettable. Highly recommend!

We went with our guide Ignacio, who was fabulous and spoke great English. He shared so much information with us about Santiago and his country. This tour surpassed our expectations! The guide, Ignacio (aka Nacho) was fantastic. We first toured a small unique winery with a private tour and tasting led by Valentina from Aquitania Winery—- too bad for us that we couldn’t ship a few cases home! Then an authentic Chilean lunch with Nacho at a restaurant that he ate at with his family as a child. Then on to Santa Rita Winery for some history and more wine. This has been the highlight of our stay in Santiago!
Dear Tracy, Thank you so much for such a beautiful and generous review. I’m truly happy to know that the tour surpassed your expectations and became a highlight of your time in Santiago! This means a great deal to me. It was a real pleasure to share the day with you and Thomas, from the intimate experience at Aquitania with Valentina to lunch at a place that holds many personal memories for me, and finishing with the visit to the museum in Santa Rita Winery and the visit to the vineyards and installations. Thank you again for your kind words and for choosing us. I hope to welcome you back to Chile one day All the best, Ignacio
