We did a private tour (2 adults and a child) to Abydos and Dendera with Nasser, our tour guide. Our tour was facilitated by Aladdin. From the booking to completion, Aladdin was prompt, flexible and responsive. The tour itself was incredible. Why? The tour guide Nasser made Abydos (which is a deeply spiritual and magical place) come to life for us. He had deep knowledge of the culture, history of Abydos and Dendara, explaining the wall reliefs in detail. He never rushed the explanations and gave us plenty of time to explore. Nasser was a personality, he was funny, generous and eccentric (covering lots of different topics like Atlantis, etc, haha) and also when we wanted to stop off to by tagines, he was game and helped us bargain. He genuinely liked getting to know people and he was so passionate. I have wanted to visit Abdyos for years and I'm so glad I booked last minute with Aladdin and got Nasser as our guide. He made our experience unforgettable (even my 10 year old son was engaged). The journey is long and we have a nice SUV with water provided and also the driver took the highways to shave time. We had lunch at a local restaurant where the food was fresh, yummy and unpretentious. I highly recommend booking with Aladdin and ask for Nasser if you want ancient Egyptian culture with a side of great personality.

Had a wonderful experience with Nasser. He was knowledgeable and fun, and really brought these special locations to life. He was clearly passionate about history; a joy to be around. These temples, though a bit far from Luxor, are a must to visit! A truly wonderful time.

We visited Dendera Temple on a private tour. We met at 9:30am and the driver and the guide came on time to pick us up. Dendera temple is very nice and worth visiting. Mohammed and Ahmed were very nice. Ahmed (the guide) told us very interesting things and was willing to answer all the questions we asked him. We explained everything with great enthusiasm and loved the visit. We'll repeat.

Dendera was an absolute “must see” when travelling in that region! The colours inside the temple were amazing and the carvings on the outside walls were incredible. You can also go up onto the roof. It also has the advantage of being a lot less crowded than many of the other temples we visited so making it a more pleasurable experience. We were a party of 10 and we travelled in a rather old minivan (very unlike the modern clean vehicle we had had on another Viator tour a couple of days before) with seatbelts that we had to dig out from under seat covers – not a good start. The driver did not concentrate on the road, spending most of his time looking away either whilst talking to the guide or at his phone. We also found ourselves driving the wrong way up a dual carriageway so the drive there and back was a bit hair raising! Our guide was knowledgeable and pointed out many of the interesting features of the internal and external points of interest. We did feel we needed more free time to look around ourselves and perhaps less of a lesson on Egyptian mythology but with hindsight we should have made this clearer at the time. Whilst we would recommend visiting Dendera and the guide was good, unfortunately we can’t recommend the company due to the poor vehicle and unsafe driver.

Currently, the Egyptian government is undergoing an extensive road renewal and infrastructure project in the Qena/Dendera region. This often results in sudden diversions, temporary one-way systems, and unmapped changes to the dual carriageways. Our driver was frequently checking his phone specifically for real-time road updates and GPS adjustments to ensure the group didn't get stuck in construction zones or blocked routes. While this may have appeared as a distraction, it was actually a necessary step to navigate the changing landscape safely and efficiently. However, we hear you clearly on the communication aspect—the guide or driver should have explained this to you during the trip so you felt more at ease. We also take your comments about the vehicle and seatbelts seriously. We are currently in the process of upgrading our fleet to ensure all guests enjoy the 'modern' experience you mentioned from your other tours. We appreciate your honesty as it helps us improve. We hope the memories of Hathor’s beautiful temple remain the highlight of your time in Egypt!"

Dendera temple is the most extraordinary I’ve ever been. You can explore the whole structure even walk on the rooftop. Mystery & History in one beautiful antique building of thousands of years and still well preserved. I’m thankful with my friend Aladin who I consider as part of my family now. He’s not just a tour guide, he’s an excellent host in your travel through all the amazing places in Egypt. I strongly recommend this activity & this provider.

This was a great tour with an energetic, experienced guide. Dr. Michael (an Egyptologist finishing his PhD) has incredible in depth knowledge of Dendera which he wove together with Egyptian history and myth to really make the experience come alive. He also modified the itinerary to add Abydos even with a tight timeline and explained further history there. Seeing both temples and comparing the art, history, architecture and mythology around them was a fascinating experience and a highlight of my time in Egypt. Our driver Ala was also fantastic. Overall communication and punctuality was also excellent. Highly recommend the tour, driver and guide!
