Driver Claudio offered the couple who came after us the opportunity to choose their seats, including the front seat — an option that was never offered to us. When we asked where we should sit, he did not mention the front. When we later asked whether we could change our seats, he told us that we had already chosen and called me “difficult.” What made the situation even more frustrating was that the Mercedes was completely empty, so there was no practical reason why we could not have been accommodated. Instead of simply being courteous and offering the same choice to everyone, the driver treated us differently and responded in an unnecessarily confrontational manner. It felt unfair and unreasonable, particularly given that the vehicle had plenty of available seats. If you expect professional and accommodating service, I would think twice before choosing this company. Based on our experience, seating options did not appear to be offered equally to all passengers, and the way the driver handled a very simple request was unnecessarily rude and dismissive.

Make sure you bring clothes for cold wind. Gloves are a lightweight addition. We are older, but still did part of the hike. I was kept well informed of our meeting time and place and Claudio made sure our drive was safe and comfortable. He was great.

Brilliant experience. The weather for us was just perfect. Being above the clouds was phenomenal. It wasn’t too busy, views were ‘wow’ and then we got to sit and watch the sun set. Driver Luis was great and funny. Only thing that would have made it a little better was we were in a small minibus with two other couples and we were sat at the back and our friends were sat at the front so when Luis was chatting about the island and tips of what to do or foods to try we couldn’t hear what was being said so had to rely on friends to relay back to us, But other than that, we loved it. The pictures on the internet do make the walk look more scary than it is in real life ! FYI

It’s September and down in Funchal is was a beautiful day. We were shocked that it was so cold on top. Even though I had a light jacket the guide scrounged a winter jacket for several of us on the right. My husband had a rain suit back at the hotel but we never dreamed we’d need it. The wind was grueling. It was so wet that we could wring our clothes out. Not everyone made it all the way but you should definitely do this tour. We were up in the clouds and it was like walking on the top of a mountain. It was the best thing we did on this island. My advice bring a warm jacket that is waterproof if you can even if it’s beautiful at your hotel. At age 62 I made it all the way but some people could not go all the way. You should be in decent shape. Also wear shoes with good grip. Some of the rocks are slippery. When you get to the point where you see the gate …turn around…take a picture. This is where all the Google pics of people posing are. This is the hike you will remember your whole life….I guarantee it.

This was a good way to “taxi” to the top to experience the “Stairway to Heaven” at sunset. But, the condition of the shuttle van was sketchy and we felt a bit uncomfortable.

Pure transfer service. The driver in the back of the bus was hard to understand without a microphone, but liked to use personal address to us to make jokes that were meant to entertain the guests in the front, also with reference to our German origin. Never experienced this before on an English-language trip with international guests. Would have preferred to choose an alternative means of transport, even if it meant aborting the trip. Unfortunately, there was no alternative on the mountain top in the evening. Better to drive with a rental car or taxi!

Good communication on booking and pick-up details. Pick up was exactly on time, and the group was only 7 people, which I appreciated. When the weather turned and we were unable to do the planned hike, rather than call it quits, Claudio took us below the rain clouds and to another sunset viewpoint. He managed to salvage the day by going above and beyond. Recommend this excursion for anyone who doesn't have a rental car or just doesn't feel up to navigating the mountain roads at night.

Our driver Cludio was great - he was v friendly, considerate and funny, he made the entire trip more enjoyable. The sunset itself was breathtaking, highlight of the trip.
