Stephan and Stephanie were fun to be with. As expats, they shared their journey to Panama from Canada. They even took us in a local supermarket to get the feel of the local community. Because it was just us, it felt like we were just visiting friends. We even had lunch at their friend's restaurant in Portobelo. Super non-touristy and low key. Stephan ended up letting my husband borrow his swimming trunks once hubby decided he'd like to swim at Isla Mamey.

Thank you for choosing VisitPanamaTour.
It was a great pleasure to spend this New Year's Eve 2023 with your family. We had a great day with you. Our tours are always planned to adapt to all situations. It was our pleasure to introduce you to the local grocery store and even more so to have allowed your husband to swim at the beach. I imagine that you also installed the magnificent frame that you got in the little shop in Portobelo.
thanks again !
Stéphanie and Stéphan xx

Are you not entertained?
Forget the TV Show, I saw Black Jesus, not once but twice: first time in the Catholic Church in Portobello; and the last time, there was a replica off the island of Isla Grande. If you go to Portobello without a guide, you are missing out on the GREAT historic cultural that lives in that region of Panama. From the fortress that was built to protect the town from pirates. To how this Black Jesus arrived on the shore and each year during a certain time, the locals reenact how the Spaniards tried to foot Black Jesus back on their ship. It was a struggle and they gave up. The reenactment apparently is an all day affair. Get a guide, experience the town from a cultural perspective, then enjoy the nearby beautiful islands of Isla Mamey & Isla Grande. I did the trip from Panama City twice. Next time it would be more effective to stay there and explore over a weekend, but it was all good for what we did on a whim.
