サラミスは紀元前1100年まで遡ってキプロスの首都として機能していた。 東海岸に位置し、かつては商業の中心地として栄え、住民に活気ある都市生活を提供していた。 その歴史を通じて、アッシリア人、エジプト人、ペルシア人、ローマ人を含む支配的な勢力に支配された。 ローマ時代、サラミスは島最大の都市となり、人口は15万人を超えた。 今日、この場所では、印象的なローマ劇場、熱風呂付きのギムナジウム、見事なモザイクなど、島の壮大な過去を垣間見ることができます。

ブユク・ハンは、島で最も美しいオスマン建築の例だと広く考えられている。 1572年に建てられたこの壮大な「キャラバンサライ」は、何世紀にもわたって商人や旅行者の安全な道端旅館として機能してきました。 伝統的な市場地区の中心部に位置し、キプロスで最大の規模を誇り、16世紀当時の面影を残す2軒しかない宿の1つ。 現在、柱に掲げられた独特の小さなモスク（メシット）が特徴の雰囲気のある中央中庭には、活気ある職人の工房や伝統的なカフェが建ち並び、賑やかな街の中で完璧な平和な逃避行を楽しんでいます。

This was a very comprehensive look at North Cyprus and I still feel there is more to see. The north is beautiful, peaceful, and feels ancient (quite a few spots are, to be fair). My tour guide was wonderful. I do think this could have been better as a two half day tour as opposed to one long day. It gets very hot in the summer and each location is basically full sun. Wear sunblock! My tour guide was a lovely and generous person. Cypriot hospitality is wonderful.
