We had a wonderful time with our guide Andres. He was personable and professional, and very patient as we were traveling with two older people, and he helped them on the hiking to the waterfalls. We also went on a national holiday and he was able to adjust our tour for us so we didn’t miss anything and we still made it back to the hotel to catch our flights later in the evening. The hummingbird feeding was perhaps our favorite part of the day and possibly of our trip to Ecuador. It was so much fun, holding hummingbirds on our hand while they drank the nectar. Also, one of our friends had a stomach problem and he was able to stop at a very great pharmacy so that we could get her some medication. Then we had a beautiful meal in Mindo Of trout and shrimp And also got to go visit the butterflies I’m sure he would’ve even stayed longer for us, but for the fact that there was traffic on that national holiday. He was also a great driver and that’s really important on these roads. All in all, it was a great day with a great guide that we will never forget.!

Andres was extremely knowledgeable and kept everyone engaged with fun facts about the cloud forest on our drive. The hummingbird exhibit itself was an incredible experience and I would highly recommend it!

Highlight of my time in Quito, we saw more than 20 different Hummingbird species, got to feed them and it was magic. My tour guide Ines was incredible. She has so much knowledge, was so kind. We even so one animal called Tayra.

Have a nice walk to the cascades. Thanks to the guide birds and plants seen and received explanations, which I otherwise would not have noticed.

What an amazing day. From pick up to drop off, our guide Mateo exceeded our expectations with his attention, knowledge, and flexibility. His friendly and personable way made it feel like we were spending the day with a good friend who was showing us his favorite sites around and near Quito. He shared cultural and nature facts that allowed us to connect with our experience. We started with a trek to the waterfall at the Reserva Orquideoligica el where we saw and learned about its botanical beauty and wonders . Next, we visited Las Contigas Reserve, food station to Mindo’s hummingbird, bird, and critters. This was the highlight of the day as the winged wonders drafted and dashed about settle for brief moments to perch upon our outstretched hand to take in nectar. So many varieties and colors, from ones that wore white boots to metallically brilliant colors, just wow! We could have spend the whole day with there. Our next stop was Al Jardin de Las Mariposas where we saw the butterfly life cycle and walked through the jardin filled with a fluttering variety of butterflies. Then we made a quick stop at Mindo Maya Chocolate Artesaul for a couple of bars of amazing chocolate before driving to A La Mitad del Mundo for some pictures. One last stop at the Basilica del Coro National where we said farewell to the amazing Mateo and made our way up each of the breathtaking towers, spied the unique, locally inspired gargoyles, and snapped pictures of the breathtaking views, ornate structural detail, stunning stained glass. Such a wonderful day! *bonus to private tour is that we were able to set our own schedule, adding on the middle of the world and getting to the Basilica before closing.

We booked this tour ahead of our arrival in Ecuador. We received timely responses from Ines to all of our questions and our tour guide (Mateo Nicholas de Benueza Pepinos) was on time and ready at our hotel to get the day going as scheduled. The tour takes the entire day and there is a lot of driving required to get us to see everything in the cloud forest. Mateo was a great driver throughout the day and would safely stop/slow down anytime something caught our eyes. He shared a lot of information and details about the Ecuadorian nature. He took extra care and provided a helping hand on the trails/hikes so that my wife would be able to get everywhere given she sprained a knee a couple weeks earlier and was a bit apprehensive of those walks. The hummingbird portion was the highlight of this tour and we have countless videos and pictures of us feeding them. We also toured the butterfly farm where you can see from larvae to fully grown species - very beautiful. We highly recommend this tour and a big thank you to Mateo.
