There are no words to describe Altezza. On our trip to Kilimanjaro, everything was perfect. Communications, loggistic, the organization, the staff, the guides, ... Unique !!
Words can’t even begin to express how blown away I was by the hospitality, generosity, and kindness of every single member of Altezza I interacted with. I booked this trip so excited to summit Kilimanjaro but am leaving with so much more… Altezza’s employees are a masterclass on what it means to take great pride in doing a job well done. From the beginning, my direct connection, Mariya, went above and beyond to be clear and helpful about what to expect and answered all the questions I had. The guides in our group — Albert (lead guide), Modest, Wilson, and Pascal — all had a very calm demeanor when necessary but also were able to share so many laughs with us too. I always felt that safety was the utmost priority through safety checks, knowing the signs of altitude sickness and how to treat them, and ultimately knowing when to turn back if necessary. They were also very clear about each day’s plan and made us all feel very capable and strong, while also assisting us when necessary with medicine, a helping hand, words of encouragement, and telling us the door was always open no matter the time of day or night if we needed help. As for the porters, again I have nothing but positive words…. Hard work doesn’t even begin to describe the work they do. It took all my energy to simply take care of myself, hike all day, and spend time with my group… our porters did all this plus went out of their way to make sure we were always taken care of, took our camp down and reassembled it each day, and all of this was done with a smile. The “magic,” as one of my teammates called it, that the chefs (Albert, Casey, and James) were able to do with our meals on the mountain was absolutely incredible too. Every meal had multiple courses and helped fuel us for the day. Altezza’s employees truly embody the meaning of “Hakuna Matata.” There was never a time when I felt my abundant questions were annoying to them or that I couldn’t approach them for help. And even beyond doing their job, everyone was so personable. I cannot recommend Altezza enough. One person I would like to especially call out is Michael, a porter from my group who is working to be a guide. He went to the summit with us. About 3/4 of the way up, I needed some help carrying my pack, which he so graciously carried. After reaching the summit, I was ready to return to base camp, and he offered to guide me down. A few others followed his lead and joined me. He did an amazing job guiding us down, making sure we kept a pace that was safe to help prevent us from losing our footing and offering his hand in more tricky areas. He did this all while still having my pack on his shoulders. I think Michael will be an excellent guide, and I please request that he be given this opportunity. I also request that everyone at Altezza get a raise because they deserve so much.
It has been a few weeks now since I finished my trek with the incredible Altezza crew, so I've had some time to reflect. It was an incredible experience overall, but without question, the guides and crew were the most lasting highlight. Knowledgeable, dedicated, kind, caring and fun! Elias, Kelvin, Michael, Jonas, Philemone - it would not have been the same without them. The same goes for the crew who cooked and carried and waited - to a person they made the trip what it was, and I'm forever grateful. Went solo and made amazing friends!
I had a wonderful time and successfully submitted Kilimanjaro. I couldn’t do it without my guide. The whole team from my sales manager to guides to porters were fantastic from start to finish. Everyone was professional and experienced. I would recommend Altezza to anyone who wants to have a good experience in Tanzania.
We did the 7 day lemosho with altezza Sept 14-20. It was absolutely amazing, the views were so good, perfect weather for us. Now altezza was the absolute best, when my wife got altitude sickness our head guide Osward knew exactly what to do and got her back on track within a day, we successfully summited despite her altitude sickness on days 2 and 3. Adrian, Paul and Gaudance were also amazing guides. Honestly everyone was so helpful from Frank and Anton making great food, to the camp staff keeping energy up. Everyone was so amazing and so well coordinated by Altezza. The best experience with the best tour operator. Please give the people I named a raise, they were amazing. Maria from the what apps logistics side was also so helpful with planning our itinerary, it was perfect from airport pickup to drop off at the end.
I could not speak more highly of Altezza, from liaising with the back office staff to book our trip, to our collection from the airport, to our trek up Kilimanjaro, they were first class. Our main guide, Ayubu was superb, great company and focused on safety. He was ably supported by the other guides, Wilson, Reggi and Jackson, who were fantastic. The rest of the support team, including Vallance the camp manager and Mosha and Godwin, were equally good and nothing was too much trouble. They always had a smile on their faces; we had a lot of fun with them and the rest of our group. I could write a lot more, but to keep it simple, I would simply say that I highly recommend Altezza and can't thank them enough for our holiday. Richard
Since the first day everything was fantastic. I had a delay for my baggage, and Noel and you take care of me and give me everything that i need for climb kilimanjaro. After Down the kilimanjaro, you were able to recover my luggage. The guides on the tour, the reception of the hotel, all de meals, the porters, was perfect. The entire team made me feel very comfortable and safe throughout the trip. I also want thank to u, rashid, james, yakaya, pascal, lucas, mussa, jackson and Noel. You are fanstastic, I feel very grateful. I hope I can repeat the experience someday.
Wow! What an experience of a lifetime. Climbing Kili and making it to the summit was one of the hardest and one of most fulfilling experience of my life. It's been my bucket list for a while and am so glad Altezza crew was there to help me achieve it. I cannot say enough about our experience with Altezza, From the moment we started planning our trip to the time we left Tanzania, Altezza took care of us in every facet. Their approach to taking care of their customers is amazing. We made few changes to our plan, and they responded timely and made sure the changes worked for us. Our transport from the airport to the hotel and back was seamless. We felt like VIP the entire time as all the logistics were taken care of very seamlessly and we didn't have to worry about anything, as this was our first time in Africa. Now about the climb itself: we are immensely thankful for the climbing crew that were in this journey with us. We have such a respect for our lead guide Emmnuel Kumwaya and his entire crew. He led the entire climb with safety first mindset, yet making sure every climber had a chance to succeed. We felt like we were in such capable hands, specially as few of us got affected by the altitude and had several moments of self-doubt on whether to continue towards the summit. With 3 times/day health check and keen observations all climbers are under throughout all 7 days, the crew is constantly taking care of all the climbers, their needs and safety. I started feeling nausea starting day 3 and was not able to eat any cooked meal, let alone smell it. The waiters were observing what i was eating, how much i was eating and were in communication with the guides. They made special food for me that I was able to eat and would deliver to my tent. They gave me glucose so that I would continue to have strength to push on. Emamnuel and Godfrey would continue to encourage me to stay nourished and continued to remind me this was once in a lifetime opportunity and not to give up. They encouraged me without pushing me or risking my safety. On summit night, they made sure i had special support from a dedicated porter and a guide, they put me in the middle of the line so I would not fall behind, get discouraged and quit and they set the pace for the entire group based on my speed. We all managed to get to the summit in little over 7 hours. All the guides were immensely patient with all of us and had smiles on their faces the entire time. Special call out to Lester, Baraka, Paul and Jonas. Thanks Baraka for teaching me about Tanzania on our way back to the gate, your upbeat personality and we could truly tell you love your job. After the summit, Godfrey held my arm and literally skated me down the mountain, as the journey down would have been terribly exhausting if i had to hike it down slowly. The servers in the mesh tent, Azekeri and Augustine, were absolutely the sweetest people who took care of us constantly. Azekeri, observing that i was able to eat cashew nuts and dates, brought plates of them to my tent when i was feeling the nausea. Thank you Azekeri for taking care of me. Hashimu, who was taking care of the toilet tent, always made sure i knew where the toilet was. What a sweetheart. Obedi was helping me with opening and zipping up the tents, as even those tasks were exhausting at high altitude. Thank you Ramadan for carrying my backpack during the summit night. Thank you to the 2 chefs for cooking delicious meals, your soups were a hit with the entire team. Thank you for making gluten free and meat free meals for myself and my husband. And thank you to all the porters, the silent heroes, for carrying enormous loads, so quickly from camp site to camp site. I felt ashamed to complain at all, after seeing how hard they work, the loads they carry and the speed at which they move. They are super humans. I truly hope that the porters are well taken care of by the company. If anyone is considering the climb, i would not go look anywhere else and would book with Altezza. And if you are lucky, hopefully you get to be with the same crew as we were and hopefully Emamnuel is your leader.
We would like to thank Altezza & Team you for such an unforgettable experience. Kilimanjaro was the realisation of a dream, and you and your team went far beyond what we could have imagined. We never expected that doing the climb as part of a group of 17 people would turn out to be such a wonderful experience. Getting to know everyone, sharing the challenges and the laughs, and experiencing a little of the local culture along the way made it even more special. And, of course, we have to thank you and all the guides for the incredible care and attention throughout the entire climb. We always felt looked after. The safaris were another highlight. Chris, our guide was absolutely brilliant. We’re naturally very curious and probably asked him a million questions, but he was always patient and happy to explain everything. We learned so much and came away with a much deeper appreciation for the animals, the landscape and the incredible environment around us. The lodge in Tarangire was a wonderful way to begin our safari, but we especially have to mention the lodge Heart and Soul. It completely exceeded our expectations. It genuinely felt like a little piece of paradise in a magical place. The food, the cleanliness and, above all, the people who work there completely won us over. We felt so welcomed and cared for.
We had a fabulous experience hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro all due to the outstanding support of the Altezza team. The office staff contact person, Sophia, was incredibly responsive to all of our inquiries and when we had to postpone our trip for a year, was very helpful in making the arrangements. In fact, she was so responsive that we thought she might be an incredibly well trained AI bot, but she is a real person. The Altezza team on the hike led by Elia Mshanga was outstanding as was he. Elia is an amazing person and a fabulous Chief Guide. Elia did a superb job of ensuring that we were safe, well cared for, understood the plan for each day, and that the entire 70-person team was well organized to support our trip. When I was struggling on the final day on the way down, he personally assisted me to ensure that I reached the gate safely. I am incredibly grateful for his assistance. The Assistant Guides, Ally Karunde, Kelvin Mrema, Athumani Goigoi, Michael Moshi, and Israel Kileo were also all terrific. They were incredibly responsive to our every need, often anticipating when we might need assistance but never feeling intrusive. When my wife Sharon did not want assistance at a difficult point in the hikes, they respected that and let her do it herself. When I needed assistance they were always available, from carrying my daypack as some points in the descent, to offering to take pictures of us whenever we needed. They were knowledgeable about the mountain, the history of Tanzania, the ecology, and friendly and open in all conversations. The summit porters and assistants were also incredibly helpful, especially Frank Kaaya and Emmanuel Temba, who assisted me in the descent from the summit to Barafu Camp. The chef and assistant chef, Peter Kiwale and Godwin Moshi, made tasty, terrific meals for us. The waiter and assistant waiter, Ahimidiwe Kileo and David Athuman, were very attentive to serving the meals and ensuring that we had plenty of food. It was amazing that this team was able to have breakfast prepared early each morning, lunch ready and then move to another camp and have dinner prepared. The personalized hot beverage mugs were a great touch and always clean for the next meal. The camp masters and porters did a terrific job setting up camp by the time we arrived every day and dissembling it and moving it, so that the tents and toilets were all ready when we arrived. The sites they chose for the tents were always level and free of stones, which made sleeping much more comfortable. Finally, the toilet attendants did a terrific job ensuring that the toilets were set up, clean, and available at each campsite. All in all we had a fabulous trip and think that Altezza is terrific, from the gear check the day before the trip started to the attention we received at every point in our journey to the final meal at the gate as we exited. The only thing I would say is that Altezza should make people aware of the number of support staff involved in the trip so that they can bring an appropriate amount of cash for the tip. The amount on the website, vastly underestimated what the tip should be. I understand that Altezza may not want to scare off prospective clients, but it truly underestimates the value of the 70-person team for 13 hikers. We are happy that we brought much more for the tip, but wished we had brought even more to reward them for the unbelievable job they did to support our trip.
