Ismail is an amazing guide! Super knowledgeable, great relationships with the Bedouin people in/around Petra. He will tailor the visit to make it the most memorable for you. We did a 1-day visit and he had the perfect recommendation of what to do, in order to both maximize our time and also enjoy the visit. Most importantly, he is a genuine and caring man who loves to show Petra to visitors. It’s no wonder why he receives 5-star reviews.

Ismail was our guide today through Petra and he was fantastic. He told us all about the history of the sites and the different theories behind the area while ensuring we saw all the highlights of the site. Couldn’t recommend Ismail enough!

I received the recommendation from my camp in Wadi Rum to book a tour with Ismail, and I am so glad that I booked this! You could not find a better or more knowledgeable guide to take you through Petra. I did the full day tour, including the Monastery. We started very early in the day and I was so glad that we did! It was amazing having the whole sight pretty much to ourselves earlier in the day, and cooler in temperature as well. Ismail told me a lot of history about Petra and we stopped many times to learn about each of the places. I enjoyed not just going through Petra and taking photos, but also learning about the history of each of the spots inside. When it came time to pass through all of the little shops, Ismail did a great job of preparing me for responding to all of the people insisting that I shop in their store. I felt very safe with Ismail throughout the tour, especially being a solo female traveler. We did ride the mules up to the Monastery, which I highly recommend doing, especially in the heat of the summer. There are a lot of people advertising "secret hikes", or "the back ways" to go through Petra, but when you book a tour with Ismail, you don't need to do those things (others will try to scam you into those anyways.) If you have the energy and stamina, I highly recommend booking the full day tour with Ismail! Even if you don't want to book a full day tour, you should still book a half day tour either way. I could not have imagined a better way to see and experience Petra for the first time.

The most incredible trip with a brilliant tour guide! We had been recommended Ismail by friends and managed to get a super last minute booking with him and we are so so grateful we went ahead with this. If you’re like me and debating whether a tour guide is required - it definitely was worth it and especially Ismail! He was on time, took us on a 4hr tour as that’s what we had requested, had a lot of knowledge about Petra and he also looked out for us during the tour with the various stalls inside who are selling things. Overall a great experience and a great guy!

Ismail was an amazing guide for our visit to Petra. We got so much more out of our day than we ever could possibly have on our own. He knew when to push us a little to see a site that we would have missed otherwise. We were exhausted at the end of the day but in the best possible way. His passion for Petra is contagious. While anyone can walk through Petra without a guide, I cannot even begin to imagine hoe much of what this place has to offer would we have missed without the guidance of Ismail. He is kind, generous, welcoming. Has a great sense of humour and is a wealth of knowledge. We did a full day tour with him and felt like it had passed in a heartbeat.
