Had a terrific four day, three night experience at Midgard, which translates to “meeting place.” Also did the Thorsmork Day Hike and the South Coast tour, under their Summer Adventure program. The guides, we had three different ones, were completely awesome. Their knowledge is broad and deep and highly engaging and entertaining. Stayed at the Midgard Hostel which was perfect. Each meal there was excellent. Met terrific people. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

I can’t say enough good things about our guide Ragnar. He is so knowledgeable as he grew up in Iceland and knew a lot about so many different things. He was funny and kind. He got to know our family and was able to plan things that he tuned into that we really would like. He made our trip extra special. I am so glad I booked with Midgard. They provide tour guides that are above and beyond awesome. The dinner was great too. Don’t skimp on this as having a great tour guide who truly knows the area and is great with people makes a lot of difference. The places he took us to were so beautiful that words can’t describe it. Go with Midgard and see for yourself. Highly recommended!!

Hands down one of the best tour we have ever had. Their friendliness and professionalism were evident from the moment we made the reservation to the end of our tour. Carlos, our guide, was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. The itinerary took us to some truly astonishing spots. We also love the fact that once we get to Landmannalaugar we had enough time to hike and enjoy the geothermal spring. The base camp itself is neat, clean and comfortable, and the on-site restaurant served really great food. It's an ideal spot to eat dinner after the long tour day. All in all it was a great experience and value for the money.

The tour was an all-around positive experience; very thoughtful, lovely guide Carlos provided very good information about the country, the people, and the events. The tour was informative, but not too strenuous. There were short breaks again and again and also flexibility with the program items; definitely highly recommended. We would come along on further tours again immediately and without hesitation.

Landmannalaugar is amazing but this tour isn’t a guided tour. It’s essentially a transport service to the area with 2 quick 10 min stops on the way for photos. You spend the 3 hours at Landmannalaugar on your own. The tour is extremely expensive for a transport service even by Iceland standards. We saw arctic adventure guides with their clients during the hike talking about different parts of the area while our guide (driver) was resting in the truck during this time. Nothing wrong with this but the tour isn’t advertised as such and hence the low rating.

This experience was a highlight of our trip! We had the best day getting off the beaten path and loved getting to explore Landmannalaugar.

Our pre-booked Fimmvörðuháls Hike and Fjallabak Super Jeep tours could not go ahead: the first due to insufficient interest, and the second because the road was not yet open. As alternatives, we were offered a day tour to Landmannalaugar and the Þórsmörk Hike Day Tour. We chose both, and it was a great opportunity to explore two less accessible areas. Under Holly’s expert guidance — coincidentally on both days — we thoroughly enjoyed the drives, her explanations, the hikes, and above all the magnificent landscapes. The lunch boxes we ordered were generous and tasty. On the way back from Landmannalaugar, we had a flat tire and had to wait a while for the wheel to be changed — but that did not spoil the experience. In the meantime, we enjoyed the landscape and the beautiful rainbow that appeared. As compensation for the wait, we were offered a delicious hamburger when we returned, which we can recommend. We will need to return to Iceland one day to finally hike the Fimmvörðuháls Trail, and we would certainly choose this professional organization again.

I highly recommend Midgard Adventures and our tour guide Carlos. The superjeep was super clean and a great way to experience F type roads, of course the destination was the best part. To keep is simple, Carlos was an amazing guide, entertaining, informative, and a great person!

Solo older female traveler. Dramatic drive through the highlands to the geothermal area. The colors in the geothermal areas were stunning. Multi-colored hills, neon-green moss, dramatic lava fields, smoking hillsides. Unexpected: Farmers were driving sheep home from summer in highlands - memorable experience watching them drive the sheep across a river & down the valley.
