Excellent trip organised by Phillipe at Guiding Galapagos. Excellent organisation and communication from start to finish. Snorkelling was excellent at both locations. Great boat and excellent guide on the day who really helped us see all there was to see. Highly recommend.
Here we like to write a positive review. We have booked our tours on Santa Cruz very gladly through Guiding Galápagos. Omar gave us very friendly, extremely competent and professional advice and support on site. All tours were first class and as described. He accompanied us daily personally to the boat and was also there on arrival to receive our belongings. This was very pleasant and yet another plus. We have been here twice now and we can only highly recommend the agency! We are happy to come back Omar and are already looking forward to more exciting experiences! Also on this way once again warm thanks for everything and best regards Christian and Marie
Good snorkling tour if you stay on Santa Cruz. Long boat ride, 2hrs, but good snorkling, dont plan anything else for the day
Thank you for sharing your feedback - we’re glad to hear that you fully enjoyed the tour and the snorkeling. At the same time, we must admit we were a bit surprised by the 3-star rating, as your comments suggest you had a positive experience, without mentioning anything negative. Of course, we fully respect your opinion, but we would have been very happy to see a rating that more closely reflects your level of satisfaction. This tour is indeed designed as a full-day experience, exactly as described in the tour details. Due to the unique geography of the islands, reaching some of the best snorkeling spots involves a longer boat journey (approximately 1.30 - 2 hours, always depending on the conditions of the sea), but this is also what allows access to more remote and rewarding locations with abundant marine life. We always aim to be as transparent as possible in our descriptions so guests can plan their day accordingly, and as this tour usually comes back approximaltey at 4pm, there definitely is not a lot of time left to plan additional activities for that day - considering that all visitor sites close at 5pm anyway and that it gets dark early in Galapagos.
I can highly recommend Guiding Galapagos for any tour! I did two tours with them (Pinzon and Santa Fe) and both times it was an amazing experience. The guide, captain and cook did a great job. The agency itself is well organized, communicates clearly and helps with any issue you may have. They really want to give you the best experience!
We had a great experience on this tour. The company is very professional, everything was on time and felt very safe, and the guide went the extra mile to find a place with so many turtles - it was truly unbelievable.
Guiding Galapagos Expeditions do not tell you when you book that you need to come by the day before for gear fitting. The day of, we had our back pack and a drybag, but we also had to carry the gear they provided from their shop to the pier. The description (What To Expect) is very misleading. We were prepared for both snorkeling and an "exploration walk". It would have been nice to know ahead that it was just snorkeling. We went to La Fé first before Pinzon Island and there was no landing or walk. We could have left our hiking gear behind. The description said "You will also get the opportunity to do some fishing from the boat" but they put two poles in holders as the guests sat and ate, while the boat trolled around the bay. None of the guests could really say they fished. Between the cost for two of $498 and tips, Don't believe the experience was worth it.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we respect every guest’s opinion, we feel it is important to clarify several points that are simply not accurate. First, regarding the briefing and equipment fitting: we inform all guests two days prior to the tour that we invite them to visit our office the evening before departure for a detailed briefing and optional equipment fitting. This is an additional complimentary service we provide so our guests can be perfectly prepared and avoid any uncertainty on tour day. It is absolutely not an obligation. Guests who prefer not to attend can simply skip it, come earlier in thr morning or use the equipment on board. The same applies to snorkel equipment. There is always standard equipment (stored all year on board) available on the boat. What we offer at our office is a Premium Service, featuring very thoroughly cleaned top-quality gear and long wetsuits for maximum comfort. Again, this is entirely optional. If carrying the mesh bag (approximately 100 meters to the pier) felt inconvenient, you could have informed us and simply used the equipment already provided on board. We are always happy to accommodate preferences when they are communicated. Regarding the fishing activity: this was clearly explained. In the Galápagos, fishing during day tours is traditionally done by trolling while navigating between sites. This is not a dedicated fishing excursion - it is, and has always been advertised as, a snorkeling tour. The fishing component is an additional opportunity, not the focus of the experience. Finally, the itinerary and activity level were clearly communicated in advance. This tour is designed as a full-day snorkeling experience, and we explicitly explain that there is usually no disembarkation and no hiking involved — which is precisely why hiking shoes are not necessary. Remember nature is nature, so if the conditions of the sea/visibility are not good, guides might improvise and fo a short walk (clearly explained that the walk would be so short that hiking gear would not be necessary!). We are proud of the premium service we provide and the transparency in our communication. We encourage guests to reach out to us during the preparation process or even on tour day if anything is unclear - we are always there to help and ensure the best possible experience.
The Pinzón tour was without a doubt the best day of my 9-day trip in the Galápagos and one of the coolest experiences of my life. It’s a longer boat ride to get there (about 2 hours each way), but the ride was smooth and comfortable. I was traveling solo, so I listened to music/podcast and chatted with others in the group. The boat had a covered area, which was great because I wasn’t in direct sun for the whole ride. And honestly, in the Galápagos, every boat ride is gorgeous. We weren’t able to do the beach portion due to time/seas, but I truly didn’t even care because the snorkeling was unreal. We saw EVERYTHING — turtles, rays, sea lions, tons of fish, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, and so many sharks. We saw over 30 white-tip and black-tip sharks and got to swim with them. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our guide Jamie (if I’m remembering correctly) was one of the biggest highlights. He spoke English and Spanish, and was friendly, funny, personable, and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable the entire day. He also did a quick round of introductions at the beginning (which I know some people roll their eyes at lol), but honestly it was such a nice icebreaker — especially because people were from all over the world and we were spending the full day together. As a solo traveler, I loved that. I even ran into people from this tour later in my trip and ended up hanging out with them! This was only my second time snorkeling, and I felt completely safe and supported the entire time. The sea lions were especially fun — they were super playful and swam right alongside us. Our guide did a great job of encouraging those moments while still keeping everyone safe and respectful (since they are wild animals). The crew was equally fantastic — they helped everyone get fitted with equipment, and were so kind and helpful throughout the day. They even helped take a few photos of me on the boat since I was solo, which I really appreciated. The boat also provides wetsuits and snorkeling equipment, plus towels (though I recommend bringing an extra towel too). We snorkeled at two different locations, with a short boat ride between them. The crew provided drinks and snacks throughout the day (water, tea/coffee, cola, bananas, crackers, pastries/bread, fruit). Lunch on board was honestly great — rice, fish, and coleslaw, and it was perfect after all the swimming. There’s also a bathroom on the boat. I booked this tour through Guiding Galapagos and I couldn’t recommend them more. The entire experience was seamless because of them — super easy to book, and they communicated clearly and thoroughly about everything I needed. I stopped by their office (right in the middle of Puerto Ayora) the day before and Omar was amazing — answered all my questions, gave me a clear rundown of what to expect, and fitted me with a wetsuit, flippers, and snorkel/goggles. The morning of the tour, you meet at their office and Omar walked me to the dock and coordinated me with the correct group/boat. This was extremely helpful because there are so many tours leaving from the same dock each morning, and it would’ve been easy to get confused without someone guiding me. They also meet you at the dock after your tour to collect your equipment, so you don’t have to go back to the office after a long full-day tour. This day was genuinely one of my favorite days of my life and something I will never forget. If you do anything in the Galápagos, go to Pinzón!!
Fabulous! Definitely recommend this tour. The guide was great, everyone was professional, the food was good. We saw dozens of hammerhead sharks and sea turtles.
It was a wonderful experience, tour guide Ricado is very nice, we had lunch cooked out of fish we caught during the trip, which is so fresh. We visited 2 places, first stop to mostly see turtles, the second stop is perfect, we saw sharks, and many other types of fishes. The entire staff team is very professional, they gave clear instructions the day before my trip, and invited me to visit their agency the day before to try on wet suit, flips, and goggle and provide the chance for me to rent gopro, the underwater camera. After the trip, there is a staff waiting for me onshore so that i can return the camera and tools without difficulties. I enjoyed their professional services.
The snorkeling tour was beautiful and the crew was very nice. I could see water turtles, sea lions and whitetip sharks - the absolute hammer. I can only recommend this tour and I will never forget it!!!
