Our guide Masa arrived on time, and gave us a very enjoyable day seeing some of Tokyo’s best sights. We even got lucky and enjoyed the cherry blossom. Masa was great company and informative as we toured the agreed locations. Thank you
I thank you very much indeed for your kind review. I have also enjoyed the tour with you togother with conversation and jokes with you in the tour. I realised you have more than enough and accurate knowledge about Japan’s history, culture, social problems, and how it is going. Anyhow, I feel relieved that you had enjoyed the stay in Tokyo. If possible, I would take you to explore the other regions when you come back to Japan again and let’s have a great time. sincerely, Masa
I highly recommend this guide experience whether it is your first time visiting Ise Jingu or a re-visit. Ise Jingu has so much history and our tour guide did a fantastic job of informing us of the history and significance of this place. He also took us over to very photogenic areas that were lesser known. Our guide was not only knowledgeable but also very hospitable and kind. We would love to book another tour experience with him in the future. Ise Jingu is a sight to see all on its own but understanding the history and why it is important changed our experience completely.
It was a great honor to have you and your family at Ise Jingu. As you may know already, Ise is one of the least visited place by foreign guests in Japan, although among Japanese this is one of their most beloved place they wanted to visit at least once in their life. That experience has been repeatedly shared by most of Japanese from several hundreds years ago. My duty is to make sure "Your wish to become real" and all the unbeaten track in Ise-Shima became beaten track for you. Please come back again with more friends. I will make sure that they can touch to the heart of Japanese who cherish the beautiful scenery and enshrined deities. Your response and comment gave lots of fuel for me to enhance my ability as a guide. Thank you very much! - Henry
Our guide, Yuka, was fantastic. We went down to our hotel lobby earlier than the agreed pickup time and she was there waiting for us. After introducing ourselves, she briefly went over the itinerary and pointed that it would be the classic way & order to visit the major shrines of Naiku, Geku, and the shrine located at the marriage rock. Her commentaries at every venue were interesting & enlightening. My wife & I both agreed that it was the best tour experience we’ve ever had in Japan. Yuka also made us feel comfortable with her kind and courteous manners.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I’m very happy that you were curious about Ise Jingu and enjoyed visiting it. I also had a great time talking with you about many things. You are such a positive and wonderful senior in life, and I really appreciate the advice you gave me for my future. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in Japan. Please take care, and I wish you good health and a wonderful life with your lovely family. - YUCCA
We had the absolute pleasure of spending two unforgettable days with Yuka Nakamura as our private guide in Mie Prefecture—and we can’t recommend her highly enough! From the very first moment, we were deeply impressed with Yuka's charm, professionalism, and thoughtful consideration of the region. Our first day proceeded according to our itinerary, which she thoughtfully tailored to our interests. We travelled throughout Ise City, where we visited the peaceful and grand Geku and Naiku shrines, as well as Meoto Iwa (The Wedded Rocks). The second day was a completely custom day. Yuka created a great experience visiting Toba City's Mikimoto Pearl Island, and the Shima region, where we had an amazing lunch while meeting the Ama divers. Finally, I would say that Yuka's best attributes were not just her ability to be competent and organized, but most importantly to be kind and attentive and friendly. Yuka constantly went beyond what was expected; she always spent longer with us than had been planned, was there to help with anything we required, and provided useful suggestions whenever we asked. It was quite easy to appreciate how Yuka explained things, providing context and richness to her stories, sometimes even adding her own personal experience to make them more relevant. By the time we finished with Yuka, the experience was so relaxed that Yuka felt like a friend, not a guide. We shared a lovely dinner together that became a highlight of our trip. If you're looking for a guide in Mie (or anywhere nearby), Yuka Nakamura is not just recommended—she's extra recommended. Truly a gem of a person and a professional. Thank you, Yuka, for making our time in Mie so special!
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! I will truly miss you now that you’ve left Japan. From the very first messages we exchanged, I felt your warmth and your wish to create the best trip for your precious families. After spending two days with you, I came to really like the four of you, and I’m so happy you consider me a friend. I was especially glad that you wanted to experience not only the must-see spots in the Ise-Shima region, but also the charm of rural areas that most foreign travelers never get to see. Mie is home to a spiritual culture cherished by Japanese people, beautiful nature, and warm, kind locals—I’m so happy you were able to experience that side of Japan. Next time, let’s explore even deeper into Mie, including my hometown of Matsusaka, which we couldn’t fit in this trip! Until we meet again, I wish you good health and many wonderful days ahead. I’m looking forward to welcoming you again in Mie! P.S. The biscotti was amazing—it made me want to visit his shop even more! Yuka
One of the most interesting visits of our 17-day trip to Japan was the visit to Ise Jingu with a wonderful guide Yuka NAKAMURA who illustrated us about the religious importance and depth of Shintoism’s most important Shrine. Yuka was proactive and offered us the possibility to participate in a blessing at the shrine with dance. Kagura was one of the most memorable moments of our Japanese journey. He also took care of booking us a great restaurant and we would have liked to spend much more time with this professional guide.
I'm sure you all had a great time at Mount Koya, after visiting Ise, and at the other stops. Thanks to those of you who told me in advance about your preferred stops and interests, and who helped me adjust the schedule on the day, the tour became a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of the charms of Ise and Ise Jingu (Ise Grand Shrine). I am truly grateful! I enjoyed talking to each of you about various things relating to Japan and Spain, and I'm growing to love Spain more and more. At the Kagura, you prayed for the health of yourself and your loved ones, and I'm sure your prayers reached Kami (Amaterasu). I am also praying for you from Mie! I look forward to seeing you again in 2033 when the main sanctuary of Ise Jingu is rebuilt. Thank you for joining the tour and for your wonderful review! Muchas gracias!!! Yuka
Thanks to a very professional and experienced guide, Mr. Yoshi Nishio, our one-day tour of Ise shrines was FanTastic; Geku in the am and Naiku in the pm. His steep knowledge of the history and ability to explain the details and nuances of the cultural background was amazing. Yoshi is very personable and has a great sense of humour, adding “pop quizes” throughout the tour.
Thank you for your nice review. I am very glad to read it. I had a wonderful time with you two. I was so surprised to hear your dialects of Japan. I could not understand the differences between Akita-ben and Yamagata-ben at all. You seem to be a good linguist or a researcher. And I wanted to listen to your talks about Formula 1, A. Senna, Honda Soichiro and mortor sports in 80's. Please take care of yourself and see you again in 2033. Yoshi
My husband and I loved our trip to the Ise shrines and Wedded Rocks with a fabulous guide Yoshi Nishio. He was a former English professor and speaks good English… but even more important was his knowledge of the history and the area. If you go, ask for Yoshi.
You talked to me about an inside story of the movie. I was surprised to hear that. I think you two are an ideal husband and wife like the Wedded Rocks. Please come back to Ise-Jingu in 2033. The removal of the shrines "Sengu" will be conducted. Be happy! Yoshi
Hisato San made our trip to Ise incredible! Not only did she have recommendations of what we should see on our own, but we were able to catch a once-a-year event, a once-a-month event, and experience so much more on our trip before (and after) the tour even began! Hisato speaks fluent English. She was knowledgeable, and able to answer all of our VERY detailed questions about history, mythology, geology, and culture. We were able to actually do a few extra things on our tour (we're fairly fit and walk quickly), and her explanation of Ise Jingu - and her suggestions on the order we visited our destinations made each stop an amazing memory we will cherish forever. Our day with Hisato was our favorite part of a larger 2 week trip to Japan, and it set the tone for our trip to the Osaka Expo - which also referenced many of the Japanese values that we learned about in Ise. Hisato San was also able to secure a taxi for us, which allowed us to see everything on our checklist, including the downtown area. We were also very lucky in that she offered to take photos for us, so we were able to focus on enjoying the scenery. Her photos also turned out great! We were also the only people to visit a few of the shrines, which made it all the more special. She also took us to a few less-known locations where we saw amazing flowers, we met a very talented knife-maker, and had a delicious lunch that met our dietary restrictions. We cannot recommend this tour (and our guide) enough!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful review! I was impressed by the way you showed respect to our culture. Your choice of staying two nights in Ise, with the first day of the month in between, was perfect so that you experienced rituals that even Japanese tourists rarely encounter. I was grateful to show you around my favorite places adorned with seasonal flowers and happily singing birds. It is said that Ise Jingu is the spiritual home foe every Japanese person. I hope it will be yours, too. Hisato
Matt was very knowledgeable about the Ise shrines and their histories. He was also very helpful in answering any questions we had and assisting us with translation when needed. We had a great time and I highly recommend Matt as a tour guide.
Thank you for your compliment which is really encouraging, and it motivates me a lot. I was impressed by your deep knowledge of Japanese history particularly relating to the imperial lineage. I am very glad to know that you have enjoyed Kagura and Lanling King’s dance. I wish you enjoy journey in Japan and safe trip home with good memories. Matt
My husband and I have loved the tour. Without our guide, Mr. Masatake, we would have missed a lot of things about Ise and The Shrine. One of the gratest experience in our trip was the Kagura, we only were able to take part of it thanks to our guide. If you are going to Ise and want to make the most of it, this is the tour.
