Shortly after the cruise began, an unexpected force majeure situation occurred and the Port Authority did not grant/continue the required departure clearance, meaning the vessel was legally required to return to the pier and could not continue its scheduled journey. Safety regulations and instructions from the authorities must always take priority, and unfortunately these decisions are beyond the control of the cruise operator. Because the situation developed unexpectedly, some of our onboard staff were also receiving updated information at the same time, which may explain why the communication initially appeared unclear. We sincerely apologize that this was not explained more effectively to you at the time. Most importantly, because the cruise could not be completed, your booking was fully refunded. We would therefore like to reassure future guests that there was no intention to shorten the experience or charge for a service that could not be provided. They are not simply taken from insulated containers and served to guests. Food ingredients and prepared dishes are handled according to our food-safety procedures, and meal samples are retained and checked in accordance with our safety-control process before service. We are sorry to hear that some members of your group experienced stomach discomfort later that evening. However, without medical confirmation or evidence establishing the cause, it would not be appropriate to conclude that this resulted from the food served on the cruise. We take food safety very seriously, and no food-safety issue was identified from the service concerned. We understand that the atmosphere created by a private event may not have matched the romantic experience you had anticipated.
