Wonderful private tour with Gjenc. He picked us up in a 4x4 at the scheduled time and we shared it with two other people. The excursion is very much worth it. The guide is wonderful, and the stops at the places of interest are very beautiful. We left at 8:30 when the rest of the tours leave at 9:00 or later, so we were alone at Lake Bovilla. Wonderful. When we were leaving, the rest were arriving... Upon arrival at the bazaar, I recommend not lingering too long because we couldn't see the castle since the restaurant where we ate took an hour to serve us... Otherwise, the tour was great.

The tour was amazing! Gjenc was an incredible guide, adapting to all our needs and an excellent photographer. He made the whole experience feel more like going out with friends than a paid tour. Would recommend 100%

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic tour with an even better guide! Gjenc was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I’ve done a lot of tours over the years, and I can honestly say he’s one of the best guides I’ve ever had. There were only four of us, which made the day feel really personal. Gjenc was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and incredibly patient during the hike. He made sure everyone was comfortable, never rushed us, and was always happy to take photos. The hike and views were amazing, but Gjenc is what made this tour so special. He’s a real credit to the company, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour.

Gjenc is the best tour guide I have had in Albania! We had a small group of 4 in a comfy air conditioned vehicle. We got to the lake before it got super busy with large tour groups and Gjenc took amazing photos for us too. We then went to Kruje where we had lunch and Gjenc shared some information about Albania. We had some spare time to visit the old bazaar and the castle. I really like that this tour offers the opportunity to combine both experiences in one day and we were back in Tirana before 5pm.

Great tour with Gjenc, who was knowledgable and friendly. He gave us a great insight into the history of Albania as well as current issues facing the country. The tour gets you to Bovilla Lake and the viewpoint earlier than most other tours - we had about 30mins up there with only 3 other people - by the time we got down there were 30+ people queuing for the iconic photo at the viewpoint. We also got driven all the way up to the start of the short walk too - larger vans and minibuses have to drop tourists off further down the trail, leaving them to walk up a winding dirt road for about 40-60mins. You then have lunch at Kruje with a quick yet informative tour of the bazaar and castle, and then you have a bit of free time before heading back to Tirana. Note there is a fair bit of driving, but better to have a local do it than attempt it yourself with a rental car - some of the roads, and drivers, can be chaotic.

Such a great time!! The hike area had amazing views! The road to get to the hike sucked and was very bumpy so keep that in mind if you have a bad back. The hike is short but you do climb up some rocks. But if you don’t want to do the hike the views from the restaurant were still amazing. The tour guide was great him and bus driver got us there before all the other tours so we beat the crowd and were the only ones at the top for a few minutes before everyone else arrived. They also take you right beside the start of the trial head which a lot of other tours did not. The town we went to after was very pretty. The restaurant for lunch has great views and good food! Then you can go walk around the bazaar. Great way to see more of Albania and the max amount of people on the tour is 8! Out of all the other tour groups I saw doing this same route. I would say this is the best option :)

I would high recommend combining a visit to the lake with a visit to Kruja. You should note the hike isn't really hiking, it's a short 5/10 minutes to a viewing platform where you do get spectacular views across the lake, but if you're hoping for a proper hike, you might be disappointed. Our guide, Gjenc, was excellent. He was incredibly knowledgeable, I came away feeling I'd learnt alot about Albania, it's people and it's culture. The trip itself was incredibly well organised. Gjenc was able to get us to the locations just before the big crowds, he was clearly very experienced and went out of his way to ensure we had the best experience possible. Just be sure to have plenty of room in your case as there's so many amazing hand crafted wood pieces and woven rugs etc, to be purchased at the bazaar, your Ryanair hand luggage won't cover it!
