これらの巨大な片持ち式漁網は、マラバル海岸への最初の訪問者の1人の遺産です。ここでは、1350年から1450年にかけて、クブライカーンの裁判所の商人によって建てられたこれらのネットは、チーク材と竹の支柱に設置されています。ネットが海に降ろされて捕まえられるのを見るのに最適な場所は、ビーチに沿って走る狭い遊歩道であるバスコダガマ広場です。広場は、新鮮なおいしいシーフード、柔らかいココナッツなどを提供する屋台があり、遊園地として理想的です。

この魅力的な大邸宅は、1862年に設立されたコーヒー商人のピアスレスリー＆Co.のオフィスでした。高知砦の植民地時代のバンガローを代表するこの建物は、ポルトガル、オランダ、地元の影響を受けています。特徴的な機能は、1階の屋根を形成する木製パネル、アーチ型の出入り口、彫刻が施されたドア、広大な部屋です。ウォーターフロントのベランダも魅力です。
この歴史的な教会はポルトガル人によって建てられ、1558年に教皇パウロ4世によって大聖堂に昇格しました。1795年に高知を引き継いだイギリス人の手に渡り、取り壊されました。約100年後、1887年にドンゴメスフェレイラ司教が同じ場所に新しい建物を建設しました。1984年に教皇ヨハネパウロ2世が教会を宣言しました。
ポルトガルのフランシスコ会修道士によって1503年に建てられた、これはインド最古のヨーロッパの教会です。これは当初木材で造られ、後に石積みで再建されました。 1779年にオランダのプロテスタントによって復元され、1795年に英国人によって英国国教会に改修され、現在は南インド教会によって統治されています。バスコダガマは1524年に彼の遺体がポルトガルのリスボンに移される前にここに埋葬されました。墓石はまだ残っています。

Had a great time roaming around Fort kochi and Mattanchery with Mr Ashok Kumar. He picked us up straight from our hotel and we never had to think twice about the next couple of days, he drove us around with detail explanation of every place. His fluency in English is a big bonus. We highly recommend Ashok !

Wonderful experience. Mortin wrote an itinerary before, but customized and also covered more than promised. He is du to be with, reliable - and a plant lover, which was a special extra. He offered also a few stops in stores he knew if you wanted, but did not insist on any. His tuktuk was clean and nicely equipped. We will come back.

We booked an auto with Salim sir in Fort Kochi for 3 days to show us around the city. I had the best time. He was super knowledgeable and took us to a lot of places in 3 days. Not just that, he was very informative and an amazing storyteller. He told us the history of the place and kept telling us the significance of everything along the way which made our trip even more enjoyable.
