Beautiful experience, one of the best of my trip
Very good experience, very well explained by the guide and as a plus you visit a heritage hacienda.
We had a great experience at Doka Coffee Tour! The tour started with a refreshing welcome cold coffee, which was a nice touch. It was fascinating to learn about the entire coffee-making process, from seed germination and plant growth all the way to roasting. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour both informative and enjoyable. The gift shop was excellent, offering free coffee tastings before purchasing, and of course, the coffee was delicious. Highly recommended for anyone who loves coffee and wants to learn more about its journey from farm to cup!
Thanks to Mauricio, the booking process was incredibly easy, and he took the time to answer all of our questions. As promised, the team reached out 24 hours before the tour to provide our driver's name. We were lucky enough to have Marco as our driver, and he made the drive to the Poás Volcano and Hacienda Doka a real pleasure. Along the way, he shared great insights and even made a quick stop to help us spot our very first sloth! The volcano visit was beautiful, and we managed to take a few photos before the clouds rolled in. It's a relatively small park, so you won't need to spend too much time there, but it is definitely worth seeing. Our absolute favorite part of the day was the Hacienda Doka tour. The grounds are gorgeous, and our guide was fantastic—sharing a wealth of interesting information while keeping the atmosphere fun and light. It was also fascinating to see the historic, old machinery side-by-side with the modern, much more compact versions. You finish the tour with coffee and chocolate tasting... You can't get better than that!
Very informative learned a lot about the coffee making process can truly appreciate the art and time that it takes to make an excellent espresso at the beginning pf the tour they offered us an iced latte best ive ever had it was amazing
I was the only one on my 9am tour with Angel and absolutely LOVED it! I work with American farmers & ranchers and this tour was fascinating. I was able to ask Angel questions about production hurdles, sustainability, and economic challenges. I Ubered (pre-booking both) to and from San Jose. It was about an hour away but so worth it!
We took a morning tour of Hacienda Doka - the coffee just seemed to hit different while on a Costa Rican coffee farm/plantation! Super friendly guide, gorgeous property, informative tour and of course, great coffee!!! Definitely worth our time!!!
Great place to visit. Lunch there is nicely done. Coffee tour is really informative and you get to learn a lot about the whole process. Coffee tasting at the end was really nice too.
Very good coffee tour with friendly and highly knowledgeable guides. However, I recommend staying away from the gift shop. I would have thought that being right at the estate, the coffee would at least cost the same as the general retail price; nevertheless, they charged me $20 for a 300g bag, while on Doka's own online store, it costs only $13. I sent them an email a week ago to discuss the situation, and they didn't even reply with a greeting. To me, it feels like they are taking advantage of tourists—whether local or foreign—and on top of that, it’s very poor service to not even answer emails. If you want to buy coffee, look for another less touristy spot that shows more respect, or head to Hacienda Alsacia, where even though it is touristy, they at least charge the usual price.
It was an enjoyable tour but there was no sugar cane tour. I would still go again knowing we would not learn about the sugar cane.
