We had a fabulous time from start to finish. Super impressed that we were offered an alternative time to go surfing when our slot had to be cancelled owing to the weather. We ended up with a new time of 6am which the family were a little reluctant with at first. On arrival we were given a warm welcome and Terry and Johnny went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after and gave us fantastic instruction. We had a fabulous time and it is definitely one of the highlights of our Sydney to Cairns adventure! Thanks again for the experience guys!

I went on my own for the surf experience with Terry, he was a great instructor and was very encouraging to get us all up on the board. We were in a group of about 9 so everyone got plenty of one on one in the class and time to practice on our own if needed. We all had a great time and Terry was great fun.

We had an absolutely fantastic surfing lesson with Tez! From the moment we arrived, Tez was friendly, professional, and incredibly welcoming. We were also greeted by Mango, the Border Collie, who is such an intelligent and lovely dog. My daughters, aged 7 and 10, had never surfed before, and I was worried they might be frightened of the waves. Tez immediately put us all at ease. He was so patient and took us to a gentle section of the beach where the waves were perfect for beginners. Thanks to his excellent instruction and encouragement, both of my girls were confidently riding the waves on their bodyboards by the end of the lesson. It was wonderful to see how much their confidence had grown in such a short time. We are so grateful for such an enjoyable and memorable experience. We can't wait to come back next year for more surfing lessons with Tez. Highly recommended!

Superb private lesson with Terry. He’s a super funny and friendly guy who really knows his stuff! He was very patient and explained everything very well. If I had more time in Byron I would go for a second lesson. Thank you Tez

A very authentic and really enjoyable surfing experience 🌊🏄🥰We had a very early slot at 6:15 am, and were a wee bit worried it might be way too early, but it was in fact the best time of day to go (in our opinion)! It felt quite special being on the quiet beach at that time of day, with a beautiful sunrise - and we even had a wee dolphin hanging out nearby 😍Terry is a real character, very passionate and experience about the surfing world. We arrived at 6:15 , Terry sorted us out with our wetsuits and surf boards - picked to suit our size and height. Then Terry and lovely little collie, Mango, drove us down to the beach - just a few minutes drive. We met John (instructor) who gave us a run down of the key things we needed to know to catch some waves, and he didn’t disappoint. None of us have surfed before but we were all up and standing on the boards and surfing (mostly 😂). It was so fun! John was a fantastic instructor, giving tips and feedback, helping boost confidence for a really enjoyable first experience. We all loved it!! This experience is more about getting up on the board and experiencing the fun of beginning to surf. It’s not a long lesson with lots of to theory and little water time. We were in the water within 15 minutes and put at ease. John was right beside us coaching us in turns, what a brilliant coach!! Thank you to Terry, John and little Mango. You made our first surf experience a great one!!!

Locally owned by one guy. So price is significantly cheaper but it doesn’t mean the quality is worse. We had 2 hours in the water and the coaching was great we could feel ourselves getting better. Would highly recommend

It was a great surfing lesson, especially for the price. Because of the weather the other groups had cancelled, thefefore it was only us. Glt a lot of good waves and a lot of good advice! We were the only ones on the beach, but had to carry our boards a bit there, which was fine for us tho.

We had a WHALE of a time with Terry. He was very engaging and funny. Straight to the point no frills. An awesome teacher! Reading other reviews, yes the equipment is a bit worn, but it adds to the personality of the lesson, and for $49 what else can you expect. Terry was brilliant and got us all standing up and riding waves! He went out of his way to find us the perfect spot for our skill set. As William Shakespeare would say, he picked it like a nose. Would 100% have booked another lesson if we were in the area for longer. Thanks Terry!

Me and my friend had a great experience with Kool Katz! We learned a lot and our instructor was very nice. He was very supportive and fun which made the whole experience a lot better! The length of the lesson is perfect, we got the chance to catch many waves and got some great feedback after each try. The price is also extremely reasonable, we felt like we got our moneys worth for sure! Will definitely go again next time we visit Byron⭐️

It was really good and perfect if its your first time surfing!
