This was a great introductory tour to the history of Ireland and Galway. We had walked around the area the day before and had no idea what history was lurking in the buildings all around us. We so enjoyed gaining this insight. Gerard also was flexible and allowed us time to go into a couple of the buildings on the tour. We got lucky and were the only ones on the tour so had maximum flexibility. A great way to start a visit to Galway! Had we not been on our own for the tour, I do think it would have felt overpriced for 3 of us, but it is a flat rate for a group so would be a steal for a larger family. That said, we booked super last minute and Gerard made it happen on late notice, which was great!

Excellent walking tour
My husband and I took a 2 hour walking tour of Galway and saw everything. We were very interested in learning the history as both our family names were members of the 14 original tribes of Galway. Gerard, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we saw everything and had a good experience. I highly recommend

A wonderful informative walk with Gerard on a soft Irish day
Gerard was wonderful!! He called early before our tour and suggested we move the time a little later as the rain was due to stop. Right on cue, the tour started and rain stopped. Gerard was excellent introducing us to the new and old Galway and told us some interesting Irish facts that we hadn’t heard before. A wonderful informative walk on a soft Irish day 😄. Thanks Gerard!

Morning walk in Galway
The tour with Gerard was very nice and informative. While Galway was very busy it is a cool historic city. We learned a lot. We also had plenty of time the rest of the day to take in what the city offers in food, drink and shopping.

A walk through time

A brilliant historic walking tour of Galway
Ger is brilliant! The tour was really good and he gave us lots of facts, some of which I didn't know! It's not my first time in Galway, however Ger still took me to places I had not been before, and gave me information about every location. He knows his facts very well and made the tour interactive, answering all of our questions about the city and its history. I would definitely recommend it, especially due to his friendliness and knowledge!

Informative and Fun
We really enjoyed our tour of Galway with Ger. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and fun. We learned a lot about this history of Galway and of Ireland as a whole while we strolled the streets of the city. The tour included a variety of sites and really helped us get our bearings so that we could explore further on our own during the rest of our stay in Galway. We highly recommend this tour!

A fun learning experience
Gerrard helped us understand Galway’s complex and interesting history. Highlights included the stories behind important buildings and architectural details, notable restaurants and pubs, and written Gaelic words on prominent shops. We learned a lot, and enjoyed discussing our (and Gerard’s) family roots.

Many thanks for your kind comments, Jim. I also enjoyed showing you and family around Galway and covering a little of the Gaelic backstory. Galway was named the European Region of Gastronomy in 2018 and the European Capital of Culture in 2022. We passed many food an drink outlets along the route and hope you got to check out some of my recommendations before you left the city. I'd also like to wish ye safe travel back to Wisconsin!
