The cooking class was a highlight of our time in Sri Lanka! We were picked up promptly at our hotel and brought to the market. He shared highlights on Colombo and life in Sri Lanka. We were warmly welcomed into a private home and cooked about 12 dishes over several hours! Everything was made from scratch and with a lot of love and intention. The food was incredible and the experience was not one we will forget. Thank you for a fantastic time!

We had such a wonderful day with Dinuka. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the local market, where we learned about different Sri Lankan vegetables, spices, and other ingredients. The knowledge about Sri Lankan food and culture was excellent, and we learned a lot. We then went to the cooking house, where we received such a warm welcome from the lovely family. The place was very clean and hygienic, and we immediately felt comfortable and at home. We really appreciated the care taken with the food. They used good-quality cooking oil and filtered water, which gave us extra confidence in the preparation. The cooking process was explained step by step, and we had the freedom to take part in the cooking and enjoy the experience at our own pace. Everyone in the family was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more special. After cooking, we enjoyed the delicious food we had prepared ourselves in a comfortable, air-conditioned dining area. Everything felt relaxed, enjoyable, and very authentic. We honestly did not expect such wonderful hospitality. It was truly a great day and one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience!

What an absolute treat! Dinuka was very knowledgeable and took time and care to ensure I had an amazing experience. Preparing a meal in a locals' kitchen was such a fun and unique experience. Being able to learn traditional methods and create such amazing flavors was incredibly rewarding and delicious. Dinuka and his family were so warm and welcoming elevated the experience far surpassing my expectations. I would 1000% recommend this experience!!

If you’re looking for an authentic Sri Lankan experience, this is it! Dinuka and Deepa were such wonderful hosts and made me feel welcome from the very beginning. The experience started with a visit to Pettah Market, where we explored the fresh produce and ingredients before heading back to their home to cook eight delicious Sri Lankan dishes together. They were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of my questions. I loved that it wasn’t just a cooking class - it was a genuine cultural exchange. We spent so much time chatting about our different cultures, discovering how many similarities we shared, and learning from each other. After cooking, we all sat down and enjoyed the meal together, which made the experience feel even more special. I never felt rushed - in fact, I ended up spending much longer than scheduled because everyone was so welcoming and generous with their time. We finished the day with a tea tasting ant the local tea shop. Dinuka was a fantastic guide, going above and beyond to make sure I had the best experience possible. This was so much more than a cooking class. It felt like spending the day with friends and getting a real insight into Sri Lankan food, culture, and hospitality. Without a doubt, one of the highlights of my trip.

Dinuka and his sister spent the entire day with us cooking delicious food and showing us the local market. The food they provided was organic and high quality, they were very patient with us cooking different dishes and there’s no doubt some of the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka

We were picked up by Dinuka with his TukTuk on time from the hotel and driven to the wholesale market. Then there was a round about the market, all our questions about the exotic fruits and vegetables were answered superbly. Then we drove to his sister's house in a suburb where we cooked together. We prepared various curries, flatbreads and rice in traditional clay pots. Grating the coconuts on a stool with a built-in scraper was a particularly fun experience. All questions about culture and life were also clarified. Afterwards the food was also eaten by us - a treat! Communication ran through WhatsApp, prompt feedback, very good English. Friendly, warm dealings, you felt really comfortable. Everything went on time, the menu was varied, we fully relied on him, but there would certainly have been room for special requests. It was a special experience, which you can highly recommend if you want to get to know the people and food culture of Sri Lanka even more intensively.

Everything was explained clearly, and it was so interesting to learn how to prepare authentic Sri Lankan dishes using traditional techniques and ingredients. As an Indian, I initially expected there to be many similarities in the cooking styles, and while there are some familiar elements, I was surprised by how many small nuances make Sri Lankan cooking unique—things like when ingredients such as onions are added, how spices are layered, and the little techniques that change the final flavour. Dinuka and his family were incredibly patient while explaining these details and answering all our questions. What really stood out was how accommodating and thoughtful they were throughout the entire experience. Beyond the cooking itself, Dinuka shared so many fascinating insights about Sri Lanka—its culture, buildings, politics, and everyday life. It felt less like a class and more like spending time with friends while learning about the country in a very genuine way. Overall, it was an amazing experience and one of the highlights of my time in Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting and wanting a deeper understanding of Sri Lankan food and culture.
