I had the fortune to have Abiy Tesfakiros as a tour guide in Lalibela for two days. He is an official guide. He knows a lot of stuff about the churches, took me to have some homemade beer, helped me getting postcards and supported me while booking another tour for another tour in Ethiopia. Good guide, better man. I do strongly recommend him as a tour guide if you are visiting Lalibela.

Our tour in Lalibela with Ayalew was very good and well organized from start to finish. He arranged everything smoothly, including transportation, guides, and all entrance fees for the rock-hewn churches and the Asheten Monastery. Transfers by tuk-tuk and taxis were perfectly coordinated, including our drop-off at the airport. The itinerary was well paced, the explanations were informative, and we always felt well taken care of. Everything was transparent and hassle-free, which made the experience very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Ayalew as a reliable and professional guide in Lalibela.

Abeje was an amazing tour guide. Lalibela was my first stop in Ethiopia and I was traveling alone; therefore Abeje was my first friend made there. He made my time very special. I told him my spiritual push inspiring me in coming to such a sacred place and the breadth of his knowledge was inspiring.
