Highly recommend Our Island Tours! Our guide, Pedro was extremely knowledgeable on many subjects and an absolute delight! I’m so grateful for his tour of Faial and especially sharing the parish of Salao where my grandfather was born in 1871. I had very little family info what was most meaningful was seeing the pieces saved from the church that was destroyed in the 1995 earthquake now part of the new church. Seeing and feeling the lava stone baptismal font my grandfather was baptized in was quite emotional. I plan to return to the beautiful island of Faial…for me it has a beautiful peaceful presence. Pedro was a great guide. Very knowledgeable with interesting stories. Our 1st trip to Faial was in 2019 we had been on the island for a few days and had done all the normal tourist things we wanted a non-tourist tour. Pedro was great! We moved to Faial in 2020 and have used "Our Island" when family visit. Never disappointed!

Great Day trip to see Faial Island. The tour was accommodating when we had an issue and had to take later ferry and start late. Pedro was a great guide and patient with our kids for the hikes and lots of questions! We learned alot about the island and the landscape. We were able to adjust tour to our needs. Lunch was delicious! Would highly recommend!

In addition to this our full day tour was planned to perfection by Luis - with a good range of activities and experiences to fully immerse us into this beautiful island. Great tour of the island from the caldera to beaches, local ruins and landmarks. Pedro was really friendly and very knowledgeable about local history, wildlife, and restaurants.

Our Faial tour with Pedro was the second day of our Roots tour for our group of cousins and spouses. I had provided Our Island with information about our ancestors who left Faial in the mid to late 1800s. Pedro met us at the ferry terminal and drove us around the island, sharing with us the history of what life would have been like during the time of our ancestors. We visited the churches where major life events occurred. Pedro also told us about the geology and nature on Faial, which kept my husband, the biologist, engaged. We shared a delicious meal in Cedros and made our way leisurely around the island, stopping in places that held our family history as well as notable places on the island. Pedro was wonderful in pacing the tour as one of our members has a disability, and we are all on the older side. He did not tire us out. We learned so much about Faial. If you want to learn about Faial, its history, geography, and nature, I highly recommend Our Island Tours. Liliana helped us design a day that would work for us, and Pedro delivered it!

We had such a great time with Pedro! He was friendly and immediately put us at ease. He made the tour feel relaxed, fun, and full of little stories I never would’ve discovered on my own. It felt more like exploring with a friend than following a guidebook. Highly recommend!

Seven of us created a family expedition to Faial to experience family roots from 3 generations back. We were fortunate to book this tour with Pedro as our guide. We had a full day, touching essential viewpoints, history, geology and as many stories as you want of a life lived on this island. And because of fate and they way Pedro knows his people, we discovered that the knew our relatives too! If you take a day with Pedro, every other day will be the richer for it.
