All our boats are equipped with complete and certified safety equipment, including life jackets for all passengers — even infants. According to Italian maritime regulations, wearing a life jacket is not mandatory in calm coastal waters such as those of the Cinque Terre National Park. That said, life jackets are always available onboard for anyone who requests one. In your specific case, neither you nor your wife expressed the need for a life jacket at any point during the tour. Had you done so, our captain or staff would have promptly provided it — just as we regularly do for guests who feel more comfortable wearing one. We understand that even moderate motion at sea can affect some individuals, and we’re sorry your wife felt unwell. However, the sea conditions that day were entirely safe, with a light 50 cm swell — well within the norms for coastal excursions — and we strictly operate within all safety guidelines. Our vessels are tracked in real time via GPS and our team consists of certified professionals trained in maritime safety and emergency procedures. Regarding your skipper, Amos: while it’s true he is young, we are proud to work with highly trained and passionate professionals, regardless of age. Amos is not only a certified skipper with experience, but he is also a future naval cadet. His background includes studies in maritime disciplines, advanced safety certifications, and training in environmental awareness — all requirements we set for our crew. We believe that age alone should not be a basis for judgment — especially when professionalism, training, and passion are all present. After all, even Formula 1 drivers and fighter pilots are often young than 23. As for the brief moment when the skipper returned to retrieve a personal item, it was fully accounted for in the planning of the tour. Our routes are designed with timing flexibility and safety margins to absorb small adjustments, without altering the guest experience or duration of the trip.
