Day of exhausting exception

The pick-up was on time, the competent driver , vehicle a little aging. We were accompanied by a French-speaking guide all the time. Started with the temple of Karnak , followed by a felucca ride on the Nile (optional), before going to lunch simply, in a restaurant by the river. Then stop photos in front of the colossuses , and head towards the valley of the kings. Priority access to the sites, visit of several tombs and return, after the inevitable stop in souvenir shop. Long and tiring day, but must do from, Hurghada.

TUI Musement 5 Star trip

The day trip although long was amazing. A great mixture of sites and things to see and all in one day. Some reviews I read beforehand moan about not having enough time at some sites but for us the time spend everywhere was just about right, bear in mind the heat and lack of shade, you can’t be wandering around for hours on end in one place. Our guide Mohammad was brilliant, his knowledge and clear communication was great throughout the day. First stop is the valley of the kings, Don’t believe the rubbish of being haggled constantly. Shop sellers are outside the main entrance in a small bazaar area. If you’ve ever been to Turkey this is way easier to deal with, a polite “no thanks” and keep walking. Once through our guide had already arranged the electric carts up to the entrance of the tombs, no need to tip and wasn’t hassled to. Just before we left the coach, we paid the extra £700 Egyptian pounds to view Tutankhamun tomb, I mean why wouldn’t you. It’s probably a one time trip and he’s the most famous pharaoh and the most recent discovered tomb. If you don’t want to do this then you get the standard three tombs included in your entrance ticket. The tombs are on a rotation so you won’t know which once’s you are seeing beforehand. Apparently this is so they can preserve the tombs and keep them for future generations. Warning bring a hat! It’s hot here and very little shade. The tombs are not overly big and although shaded as they underground they are hot to be in. You can take pictures yourself no issues but a warning the guards will try to earn a few extra quid off you by offering to take pictures for you deeper in the tombs where you can’t go. That’s up to you if you want to but remember if you let them you won’t get your phone back till you’ve tipped them. My advise a simple “no thanks” and they leave you alone. The tombs and the hieroglyphs are amazing and well worth visiting, you really do feel a part of history visiting them. Next stop we were off to local shop where they make hand make souvenirs - you’re told the relatives are direct descendants of the boy who helped find Tutankhamun tomb. Not sure I believe this but oh well, let’s go with it. After a short demonstration on how they hand make the items you are welcomed into a beautiful store - there is no pressure to buy anything but some of the items are really good. We had our names written into a vase we purchased in hydrogriphs and were very pleased with it. Like everywhere in Egypt prepare to haggle and the more you pick the cheaper it is. I know some people hate this but that’s just the culture and always start the haggle half of what they are asking for, the middle ground feels like both parties have some kind of deal. The toilets are free here and pleasant as well. They will also get you a drink for free. You can you use cash or card and they will bubble wrap your purchase for protection. Next up is the temple of Hatshepsut- “the valley of the queens”. The walk up is stunning, usual stuff small bazaar outside, selling junk. Just walk past and be polite. Once inside our tour guide Mohammad sorted electric cars up to the main entrance again. This is a show stopper picture opportunity, it’s stunning. No real Shade in the temple so make sure you’ve got that hat still and a fans a good idea as well. We went in March, god help anyone in Summer! Back on the coach and a short ride to the Nile. The coach btw was spacious, had a toilet on board and the air con great, a massive plus in +32 degrees heat in March! Next is lunch on the Nile. The boat looked okay from the outside but inside surprised us and was stunning, food and service for lunch was great and all Included. Only thing you pay for is the drinks, £300 Egyptian pounds for 2 soft drinks so nothing too pricy. After lunch go up top which has great shade, grab another drink from the bar and spend an hour drifting up and down the Nile. Some great views to be seen from the boat. Relax after the heat and walking of the morning visits. Next and final main stop is the Temple of Luxor, a real surprise this one and once you go in you’ll get to see some amazing statues and the avenue of the Spinx. Great photo opportunities to be had here and you’ll be presently surprised as how grand this temple is considering outside it looks quite small. A couple of 1.5 litre waters are £200 Egyptian pounds from the shop on site, and trust me you’ll need to keep hydrated by this point. It’s then relax and try to get some sleep on the coach as you head back to the hotels. It’s a long journey and they do stop off both ways for a short 20 min pee and coffee break. We were the first hotel picked up at 4am (Hilton Plaza) in the morning and the last to be dropped off, so very long and the drive is more like 4 hours after the 5-6 hotel drops. Trust me though it’s all worth it and another adventure ticked off the bucket list! Take some Egyptian money for drinks and small tips, credit card for any special souvenirs, hat or scarf for the heat, breakfast box from your hotel and plenty of water. You can leave stuff on the coach as well as its with you all day and it’s secure. All in all a great trip and well worth the price. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

travel to luxor

The trip was very pleasant thanks to the organizer of the trip and even more thanks to Egyptologist Mimo Habibi who had control over the tourists so that they do not get lost. Although I do not speak English and it was my only option to travel, I saw that Mimo is very expert in his presentation about the pharaohs and Egyptian history.

Unique experience in a unique place!

Beautiful experience, beautiful views and the time you are in the air is prolonged so you can enjoy a good time, the captain super friendly and funny. The only thing to improve is that they leave you a little alone when you arrive at the property, and if you do not know English or Arabic maybe you have doubts.
