Our family group ranged from people who love history to people who mainly wanted photographs and a relaxed day in Rome, so keeping everyone happy wasn't necessarily easy. Fortunately, the excursion had a nice balance. The pickup at the cruise terminal was convenient, and the air conditioning in the minivan was especially appreciated after walking around outside. Our guide did a good job of explaining the history while also keeping things interesting for family members who aren't normally big history fans. We had opportunities to take pictures and enjoy the atmosphere rather than feeling that we were constantly being hurried from one location to another. The guide was also patient with our group, which we appreciated. Another positive was the driver. The driving was safe and professional, and we felt comfortable throughout the transfers. With a cruise excursion, the return journey is always in the back of your mind, but we were brought back to the port in time for the ship. It was a long day, but a very enjoyable one. Seeing Rome together as a family was definitely one of the highlights of our cruise.
My partner and I had been looking forward to seeing Rome for a long time, but we were slightly nervous about trying to do such a large city in one cruise day. This excursion made the whole experience much easier than trying to arrange everything ourselves. The pickup at the port went smoothly, and the air-conditioned vehicle was a welcome break from the August heat. Our guide was friendly and easy to talk to, and we could ask questions throughout the day. We never felt uncomfortable asking for clarification or stopping briefly for photos. What we enjoyed most was the combination of sightseeing and practical organization. Rome can feel overwhelming when you're visiting for the first time, but having someone who knew where to go and how to organize the day saved us a lot of time. The driver was careful and professional, and the return schedule was taken seriously. We got back to Civitavecchia in good time for the ship. It was one of those days where we could concentrate on enjoying Rome rather than constantly checking the clock. A memorable part of our cruise for sure.
The tour walked the city and you got to see some of the major tourist sites from the periphery. You did not have a lot of time for lunch. For some reasons we stopped for gelato, then walked 30 minutes and stopped for lunch. So make sure you know the timing of the stops. Our tour guide was nice, polite and knowledgeable, but the quality of the headphones used and his thick accent made it hard to hear for the entire family.

Our guide was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. Instead of just throwing dates at us, they told the stories behind the Colosseum and the Vatican. It felt like walking through Rome with a local friend.
The tour was OK. Our ship got to the port late so we were a little stressed about being late and getting to the pick up location. Our tour guide didn't really tell us what we were doing so there was a lot of confusion about when we would eat, use the bathroom or where were we going. It was a quick stop at each location. This tour is best for cruisers who need a quick day trip.

My daughter and I waited for an hour and we were never picked up. I wanted to enjoy a European Cruise with my daughter for my 81st birthday and this part of my experience was disappointing. All of the other excursions at the other ports were easy and the guides communicated extremely well through WhatsApp. This company did not do that. Instead, they sent an email that wasn't received until the next day. It's almost as if they don't really want you to make the excursion and just take your money...or maybe they don't exist. When we asked around about the company, the tour, and how to find them; no one knew who they were. This is a scam.

Waiting at the wrong location with an unreachable phone, even for an entire day, does not help anyone join a tour, especially when more than 150 of your fellow cruise passengers had no issues boarding our buses. When booking activities through Viator, we strongly recommend that you carefully read and understand the pickup information provided in the “Meeting and Pickup” section of the product description, as well as the instructions communicated to you by email in advance. Once you have reviewed and understood this information, we highly recommend following the instructions in order to enjoy your tour. Sofia a very knowledgeable and good at answering any questions and helping you understand the history at each site we went in Rome. She is very personal which was something that made the trip experience even memorable and meaningful.
We booked this tour because we only had a few hours while docking in Civitavecchia Cruise Port, and it turned out to be the best decision. Seeing the Colosseum in real life was something I will never forget.
A great choice for cruise passengers who want comfort and good organization. We returned to Civitavecchia Cruise Port with plenty of time before departure, and with lots of beautiful photos of Rome.
