From getting there it was a nightmare. Joined the que 10 minutes before ticket slot and told to come back 5 minutes before time slot. Rejoined 5 minutes before and told to come back in a few minutes. Once joined the que at our slotted time it took us over 2 hours of standing in a que moving very slowly. We entered the bridge and were stood for over an hour, and eventually got to the point where you could view a bit of the tapestry from above. Once we got down to the tapestry we could move slowly along, but the staff kept saying keep moving and trying to get us to jump in front of people where there were gaps. After waiting for over 2 hours you should be allowed to look at the tapestry to take in the scenes. There were no seats and to rest along the way, and by the time you got to see the tapestry with staff keep on at you to keep moving it took away the experience we were looking forward to. One of the problems was people taking photos and not moving along, but staff did not stop this. It was organised chaos from start to finish

wear comfy shoes and layers as weather is changeable at the different locations. take a drink and small snack with you as it is a busy itinerary. you will stand where the landings happened and really get a sense of the scale of the defensive position and how challenging that was to overcome. the cemetery is surprisingly beautiful and so well cared for. if you have ever watched a film about DDay you will recognise place names and if you haven’t then you should before or after the trip. having a guide who has thoroughly researched the events and personal stories made the experience. we were in a group of 8 made up of 4 couples- from Scotland, Ireland, Sweden and USA so a very mixed group and we all found it superb.

We attended the half day American and British Tour from Bayeux. Our guide gave us a lot of great history and local information, him being from the area. There were seven people on the tour. It was well worth it, and we are glad we booked this tour. A can't miss if you are here.

Amazing tour and emotional experience. Igor made it the best tour I have ever taken. Private tour with us. He is a local Frenchmen who grew up in Normandy. He had so much knowledge and answered every question. Took us on special back roads and showed us D Day things nobody would ever see. It was one of the greatest emotional experiences of our lives. Ask for Igor. You won’t regret it. He and his family before him lived it all. He made sure we heard Taps during the lowering of the American flag at the American Cemetery. I’ll never forget it. He knew it all.

Emilie is sooooo knowledgeable and personable. We learnt so much in 4 hours in a charming and entertaining way. I highly recommend this experience.

Our guide was great, he knew everything we asked and was extremely knowledgeable, can’t say enough, Adrian is a jewel! He really showed that he wanted to meet our needs, from children to seniors.

Amazing tour. We had absolutely the VERY best guide you could ask for. Igor was a local guide who knew everything about the Normandy invasion. He was simply the BEST! Very moving experience. We got to witness the lowering of the American flag and hear Tap being played.

Our tour guide was Elise and she was fantastic...very professional and very knowledgeable on her subject...you will learn much about the heroics and sacrifices made during the Battle Of Normandy. The tour included all the advertised stops—the Mulberry floating ports, the German bunkers at Allemande de Longues-Sur-Mere, Omaha Beach, and the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Lucas was our guide, and he gave an excellent tour. I was impressed that he remembered the names of everyone in the group, five in total, which gave a nice, personal touch to the afternoon. The five-hour tour was just right: it filled up the afternoon, preserving flexibility in my own schedule without taking up the entire day. Lucas drove us around and gave us plenty of facts and information, often supplementing his ideas with pictures from a copious notebook. I am an American history professor, and I teach a course on military history, yet I still learned plenty of new information from Lucas. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!
