Great tour & great guide!

I had a great time! The tour was very well organised, we got to see crocodiles and learned a lot about the Daintree Rainforest. Mike was the best guide, making sure everyone enjoyed the trip and sharing lots of interesting information along the way.

Amazing day trip!!

I had such an amazing day out on the Uncle Brian’s Cape Tribulation tour. The places that we visited were spectacular and we managed to see both the rainforest and the beach, as well as crocodiles in the river. I think the best part however was our tour guide Kye, who was so knowledgeable about the areas and their history, and his passion made the whole experience so much more engaging. As a solo traveller I found this was a great way to meet some cool people and share an amazing experience. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Cairns!!

Amazing tour with Spencer!

Hands down my favourite part of my East Coast trip. Spencer gave us the most incredible tour and I honestly could not recommend it more. We laughed all day, saw so many amazing places, and got to experience the real Cairns in a way you never could on your own. Everything felt so genuine and relaxed. Spencer's calm, kind nature made the whole day so special. He made everyone feel welcome from the moment we met and you could tell how passionate he is about what he does. It never felt rushed and every stop had its own story. I left with the biggest smile on my face and some amazing memories. If you are visiting Cairns, do yourself a favour and book this tour. It was an unforgettable experience and one I will be talking about for a long time.

Long and awful bus ride with a few short stops thrown in

TLDR: lovely but very short stops unfortunately punctuated by extremely long rides on an uncomfortable bus listening to many hours of misinformation. Honestly the worst tour I’ve ever been on. I went with a group of twelve friends and none of us enjoyed it. First, the eleven hour(!) tour is mainly spent on the bus. The stops are quite short and although each was nice, they were not nice enough to make up for the many, many hours on a crowded bus, which alternated between being too cold and (mostly) way too hot. And, quite unfortunately, the majority of the time on the bus was spent listening to a constant stream-of-consciousness monologue from our guide, “Cousin Michael” (more on that further down). Stops: We first stopped for “tea” and a walk on a lovely beach. The beach was nice but, as the guide mentioned, the provided coffee was low-quality instant coffee so many of us opted to buy our own. After a brief stop at a viewpoint, we then arrived at the crocodile tour which was wonderful but far too short. We had to disembark halfway through to meet the bus that came over the Daintree River on the ferry. We all wished we could stay on the boat. The crocodiles were well worth seeing and the boat captain was delightful (unlike our tour guide). This was, by far, the best part of the tour. On the other side of the river we stopped for lunch and then swimming in a creek on the same property. The lunch was fine, no complaints. However, the swimming stop was rather odd. The creek was pretty but cold and only a few people opted to swim for a few minutes. At this stop, our guide encouraged us to lick the “lemony posteriors (he used a more colorful word than this thatTA won’t let me post)” of the native ants, which he passed around. We then made a stop at the “deadliest beach in Australia,” which was nice and scenic. However this stop, just like every other stop, was too short. The last stop was a walk in the rainforest, which turned out to be a very short (650 meter) loop on a boardwalk. The guide admonished us to be quiet so that we could see wildlife and then proceeded to talk very loudly for the. entire. walk. Not surprisingly given his incessant talking, we saw no wildlife. But we did get some nasty looks from the guide when some of us tried to go a little ahead or hang back, in order to be away from the sound of his voice (which we had already heard for many hours). Which brings us to our guide. Michael was friendly and gregarious, and his heart is in the right place regarding environmental issues. However, he talked interminably through the majority of the tour and unfortunately, a very large portion of the information he shared was erroneous. He spent a long time talking about the history of the Earth and Australia, as well as animal and plant evolution and ecology. I am a college biology professor who teaches ecology, evolution, and the history of earth and I’m sorry to say that almost everything he shared on these subjects was incorrect, often egregiously so. It would literally take hours to detail the many, many wildly inaccurate things he shared. Whilst speaking about my areas of expertise, he was wrong about approximately 90% of it, which made it difficult to trust him when he spoke about some of the native flora/fauna and indigenous history and culture. It’s a shame, because he clearly has read and/or watched a lot of content about these subjects, but has utterly failed to understand them or recollect them accurately. In addition, he spoke at length about gender roles in indigenous and modern cultures, which veered between inaccurate and borderline offensive, and finished the tour with a long diatribe about what causes cancer (also wildly inaccurate) interpolated with unsolicited and odd life advice. It was the strangest tour experience I’ve had in my entire life, and by the end, the onslaught of misinformation and bad advice was extremely grating. As we pulled into our final stop, he took the opportunity to again advertise his own personal instagram account and businesses running “wellness retreats” and tour packages. I would recommend avoiding these as well. The tour operated as advertised. However, in my opinion the tour is rather poorly conceived and executed. I think the reason we crossed the Daintree River in the first place was to have lunch and then swim at the “exclusive” Uncle Brian’s swimming hole, which was extremely skippable. It would be much more pleasant to experience the whole crocodile tour instead of just half, then turn southward and do a rainforest hike on the south side of the river, rather than cutting the crocodile tour short and spending extra hours driving and waiting for the ferry in order to go to the swimming hole/lunch location. This felt like a complete gimmick and a waste of time. Speaking of which, I recommend not wasting your time on this tour. Find an alternate way to experience the beautiful beaches, forests, and wildlife of Queensland.
