Touring New Orleans with its complicated history and endless points of interest is WAY better with someone like Benjamin Burden in the front seat. We did his 3-hour private tour as the first event of our week, and were extremely happy with the enrichment he gave us -- history, first-hand knowledge, pleasant conversation, personal insights to his life in this city, not to mention a big comfortable SUV, excellent driving and safety and a stop at an (air conditioned) branch of Cafe du Monde in an uncrowded park setting. Although we already had tickets for a future walking tour of St. Louis Cemetery #1 on another day (side note: it was hot then and the walkways badly paved) it was a real bonus that he drove us through the somewhat-distant Metairie Cemetery which has plenty of illustrious guests and impressive tombs, and no crowds.

We landed in NOLA and immediately went on the private NOLA tour with Benjamin. It was an excellent way to start our vacation! We went all over the city with Benjamin pointing out must see places and discussing NOLA's history. He is full of information and felt like a friend from the moment we met him at our hotel. Our favorite stop was the city park with the opportunity to try beignets (yummy). After the tour we were able to hit all the highlights for the remainder of the vacation, I think we would have overlooked some of the spots if we hadn't of taken the tour. As we were leaving Benjamin offered great tips on the best restaurants and bars in our area.

Benjamin was extremely knowledgeable about all things New Orleans - history, neighborhoods, politics. He gave us an excellent overall tour. I’m sure he could give good specialty tours too.

This tour was the best thing we did. We could have spent all day with Benjamin learning about the city. His love of this city is so apparent in the care he takes to verify information, the flow of the tour, and the stories he highlighted along the way. The depth and breath of his knowledge was incredible. Someone in our group has a gluten allergy and he was able to adapt to accommodate. Whether you’re a first timer with a short time to see the city or have spent a lot of time in NOLA, book this tour. You won’t regret it.

This was a great tour. Benjamin has a wealth of knowledge about the history of his hometown. It’s impressive how much he knows. He has a friendly and welcoming personality and was willing to go out of his way to accommodate our group’s needs!

We took a private tour with Ben. He covered so much of what we wanted to see. He clearly knows a ton--names, dates, facts, context, music, architecture--and told stories in an enlightening and entertaining way. The vehicle was nice, he's a conscientious driver, and the trip included a well-timed break. Would highly recommend.
