First time but live locally It was a lovely day and the trip across the bay was a nice experience. My only real issue was boarding in Dun Laoghaire The only way to describe it was "Chaotic" No Queuing system, so a lot of pushing as people went to get what they feel is the better seats. This left a lot of people frustrated I feel the operator could easily resolve this with some form of a temporary barrier and a ticket that can be scanned rather than giving the family name.
Booked as a treat, trying something new!! 30€ per person, overpriced!! Very noisy groups on board during our trip Sat 25th at 12 30pm. Impodssible to hear the speaker, smooth trip . Would nor reccemend
Travelled from Dun Laoghaire to Howth this week. Fortunate to get 2 seats on upper deck. Very enjoyable trip, taking in the sights while crossing the bay. It was a treat to see Howth Head from the sea. Heard some tour commentary from the speakers at this stage but don’t recall hearing much otherwise. Crew was efficient and friendly. Enjoyed a lovely lunch at one of the restaurants on the pier in Howth before catching the Dart train home. Great day out.
Dear Dublin Bay Cruises Team, Six of us recently booked the Dublin Bay cruise from Howth to Dún Laoghaire. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the experience. The staff were lovely, and the boat itself was comfortable and well maintained. However, the journey felt more like taking a direct ferry from Howth to Dún Laoghaire than going on a sightseeing cruise. We expected the trip to showcase Dublin Bay from the sea by travelling closer to the coastline, where safely possible, and allowing passengers to see and appreciate some of Dublin’s coastal landmarks. Instead, the boat appeared to travel so far from the shore that, for most of the journey, we could see little more than open water while waiting to arrive in Dún Laoghaire. Tourists and local visitors book trips like this to enjoy the scenery and make the most of the experience. In our case, it felt as though the main purpose of the journey was simply to transport passengers from one harbour to the other within approximately one hour. Had the trip been described primarily as a ferry crossing, our expectations would have been different. As six paying passengers, we felt that the trip was not good value for money or time. Although the staff and boat were lovely, the cruise itself was very underwhelming and not an experience we would recommend in its current format. I would respectfully suggest that you consider: • travelling closer to the coastline and landmarks where navigation and safety conditions permit; • providing more commentary and clearly identifying the places visible during the journey; • showing passengers a route map before booking; • clearly explaining how much of the journey involves open-water crossing; and • describing the trip more accurately if it is intended mainly as transport between Howth and Dún Laoghaire. We are providing this feedback because we believe the trip could be a much better tourist experience if it focused more on showcasing Dublin Bay and its coastline. I would appreciate your response and an explanation of whether the route we experienced was normal or whether it was affected by conditions on that particular day. Kind regards, Sukhdeep
I did not get to experience it and it was my dream I literally begged my friend to go on this experience with me I was 2mins late they boarded without being considerate at least 5 mins grace won’t hurt anyone my friend show them the video call that I was so close but they didn’t listen and she was so lonely and didn't enjoy it a bit and my day was spoiled
Even though the sea was choppy,it was an enjoyable experience!
Stupid! a cramped boat, no scenery and Howith not worth seeing as a tourist. I was very disappointed. Then the train back to Dublin center was delayed. We called Uber. I expected some narration. It was there but hard to hear. I do not recommend this trip. We had to take Dart to get to the pier.
I work in a day centre for people with disabilities, doing this trip was a goal for one of my clients. She was so exited but the man Gabi in the entrance was so rude, it soiled the trip to us, they are not organised they, there is no client support, I had called the office 5 days before the trip to check if all the tickets was correct, she confirmed to me that it was all right, when we got to the trip the man almost didn’t let us on, he wanted listen to me, he said he have nothing to do what the people from the office said, he shout on me being very rude on front of everybody, terrible experience and for the price I do not recommend.
Taking the boat ride is a nice way to see the coastline of Dun Laoghaire, cliffs of Howth and Ireland’s Eye up close. You do not really see Dublin city coastline as you are far out in the Bay. The continuous information being provided by a guide up top could not be heard distinctly around the boat, unfortunately it was just a constant noise, so it would be great if this could be improved especially for international passengers. It’s a great idea if celebrating an event, to have lunch and a walk in Howth and back home on DART.
Just the best tour I've done in ages. An absolute must do. Crew are so knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely a must to do when in Dublin and great value. Looking forward to my next trip to see Muglins.
