Detroit is not what you think. I had never been to Detroit, just heard the stories and saw the photos of the abandoned buildings. So with an open mind we wanted to see what had become of it. Dildora was an excellent guide, and ambassador to the city. She was very knowledgable and we were able to get answers to everything we wondered about. My husband petered out along the way, although the pace was very manageable. We left him with a cold drink and Dildora and I carrried on. I would highly recommend this tour for tourists and locals alike.

our guide had a lot of facts and history it was well paced and we learnt a lot group size facilitated a lot of good conversation but she was difficult to understand

I also remember that at the beginning of the tour you mentioned having some hearing difficulties. Unfortunately, while we were inside one of the buildings discussing its architectural history, there were unexpected renovation works taking place, which created quite a bit of background noise. I apologize that this made it more difficult to hear parts of the explanation. I’m happy that, despite those challenges, you were still able to learn a great deal from the tour and enjoy the beautiful architectural landmarks we visited. If you’re looking for more than just a parade of cool buildings, this Detroit architectural walking tour delivers. It strikes a great balance between the city’s architectural gems and their fascinating history. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, bringing Detroit’s past and present to life with enthusiasm, insight, and lived experience. Honestly, the tour could just as easily be called “Nothing Stops Detroit,” given the recurring theme of the city’s resilience and reinvention. I went with three teenagers, and even they stayed interested and engaged throughout—a testament to the guide’s storytelling. The walking distance was very manageable, with plenty of stops and breaks that kept the pace comfortable. Highly recommended.

Learned so much from Dildora on this tour and got to see the inside of buildings I never would have known to venture to myself otherwise! I was in town for Movement Music Festival and needed something to do for a couple of hours to pass the time since I extended my flight to mid-afternoon and this tour was just perfect for that.
